Desmond “Des” Smyth, the company’s President and founder, developed the SecureWatch24 (SW24) concept over five years prior to his 2006 retirement from the New York Police Department (NYPD). Des’ remarkable success within both the public sector as a highly accomplished Detective and the private sector as a residential security expert provided the impetus necessary to create SW24 as it exists today. Des began his NYPD career cultivating a productive relationship with the residential communities of Central Harlem, utilizing daily patrol interactions to positively impact the quality of life on the streets and in the properties he patrolled. Commitment to a proactive community-based approach to crime prevention facilitated Des’ efforts to enhance the effectiveness of an interactive security platform serving the local police, the local community, and local property owners.
