Samsung has added two new HD megapixel models with built-in IR LEDs to its network vandal-resistant dome camera range. The SNV-5080R and SNV-7080R are able to deliver high definition images during both daylight hours and in pitch-black darkness, making them suitable for a wide range of applications requiring effective 24-hour surveillance, including car parks, industrial estates, petrol forecourts, schools, hospitals, retail parks, airports and ports. The SNV-5080R incorporates a 1.3 megapixel camera with a motorised varifocal lens and, with its 15 built-in IR LEDs, is able to capture up to  1280 x 1024 (4:3 format) and HD 720p (16:9 format) images of objects up to 15 metres even in zero light. The SNV-5080R features Samsung Techwin's WiseNet1 DSP chipset to deliver a host of advanced functions such as license-free Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA), which includes optical tripwire and enter/exit direction detection, as well as an Appear/Disappear function to detect the movement of objects. IVA also has a scene change tampering function which creates an alert if, for example, paint is sprayed on a camera lens or there is unauthorised movement of a camera away from its usual field of view. The H.264, MPEG4, MJPEG and JPEG compression methods incorporated into the SNV-5080R provides users with the ability to simultaneously transmit images to multiple locations at various frame rates and at different resolutions allowing different users, if authorised, to simultaneously monitor live images at one location, whilst recording video evidence at another. POE (Power over Ethernet) functionality reduces installation costs by providing both power and video/audio transmissions via a single Ethernet cable. The SNV-7080R incorporates an ONFIV compliant 3 megapixel Wide Dynamic Range (2MP mode) camera capable of  displaying multiple resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 (4:3 format) and Full HD 1080p (16:9 format). Incorporating Samsung's bandwidth friendly WiseNet2 DSP chipset, it offers the option of dual-streaming of video using H.264 and MJPEG compression and can therefore be simultaneously used for real-time monitoring, mobile monitoring, high quality or high-efficiency recording, SD memory recording and/or E-mail notification purposes. The SNV-7080R also features Samsung's Smart Codec compression technology, which allows specific areas of interest within a scene to be captured at a higher resolution than the rest. This means that areas such as doorways, human faces, or windows are transmitted or recorded at full resolution, whilst other areas within the scene are reduced to save file sizes and put the user firmly in control of bandwidth management. At night, or in any environment where there may be inadequate lighting, the camera's 15 built-in IR LEDs are automatically activated and provide effective lighting up to a distance of 25 metres. The SNV- 5080R and SNV-7080R, which are both vandal resistant and rated to IP66, are offered with an extensive range of accessories and brackets to provide a choice of wall, pole, parapet, pendant, corner and in-ceiling mounts.

Hanwha Techwin America’s new network video recorders offer the familiarity of a DVR

Unlike most NVRs, which can only be programmed remotely, the two new Samsung models can also be locally configured and controlled with the help of a mouse and a very easy to use multi-language on-screen graphical user interface. The four channel Samsung SRN-470D and sixteen channel SRN-1670D both utilise H.264 compression to minimise bandwidth requirements whilst maintaining high image quality and also offer the option of using MPEG-4 or MJPEG compression. A recording throughput of 64mbps allows both models to simultaneously record in real time 704 x 480 resolution images from all connected cameras or up to Full HD (1920 x 1080) from selected cameras from Samsung's comprehensive range of IP cameras, Full HD megapixel, HD megapixel, 4-CIF and VGA cameras."I am confident that the competitively priced SRN-470D and SRN-1670D NVRs will very quickly become popular with both installers and users," said Tim Biddulph, IP Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. "A key benefit of an NVR is that it can be installed anywhere on a network. This could be in a central control room or immediately adjacent to sets of cameras, but wherever it is located, a separate PC is usually required by installers for programming purposes, as well as for a user to view the live or recorded images. The great advantage offered by the SRN-470D and SRN-1670D is that it can be programmed and controlled by just the use of a plug-in mouse and in this respect it offers familiarity with a DVR. This should prove to be a particularly attractive feature for installers who have limited experience of commissioning IP network based recording solutions."An additional installer friendly and time saving feature incorporated into the SRN-470D and SRN-1670D is the ability to automatically detect and register all of the connected cameras. The SRN-470D has the facility for a 2TB SATA HDD, whilst the SRN-1670D, with the capacity for five SATA HDDs, offers the potential for a massive 10TB of on-board storage. Both models can record audio across all channels and have a built-in DVD Writer and USB ports for easy export of video as well as a 1080P resolution HDMI output. Full compatibility with Samsung's license-free NET-i Viewer Centralised Management Software (CMS) ensures users can access an SRN-470D or SRN-1670D NVR via a PC from anywhere in the world, keeping people connected 24/7 with their security systems wherever they may be. Available from all Samsung distributors, the SRN-470D or SRN-1670D SRN are offered with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty. For further information please email STEsecurity@samsung.com or telephone +44 (0)1932 45 5308 or http://www.samsungsecurity.com/

Hanwha Techwin America introduces the WiseNetIII 2MP Full HD network camera range
Hanwha Techwin America introduces the WiseNetIII 2MP Full HD network camera range

WiseNet III 2MP Full HD network camera range The eight camera models incorporate Samsung’s new WiseNetIII DSP chipset, which has been developed by the company as a result of a market research programme carried out by its worldwide product management team. This identified what users and installers felt were the key ‘must haves’ in order for high definition IP network cameras to automatically become the preferred choice when a new video surveillance system was being specified, or an existing system was being upgraded. The extremely impressive set of features incorporated in to the WiseNet III range include: All of the models can capture high quality images when the lighting level is as low as 0.01 lux. An ultra fast frame rate of 60fps at 1080p which results in latency free clear images. This can be particularly beneficial in a scene with moving subjects by ensuring thatimage edges are kept sharp and clear. Enhanced Wide Dynamic Range which when working with performance greater than 100dB,can accurately produce images in scenes that simultaneously contain very bright and very dark areas. Correct colour is maintained by adopting Regional Adaptive Tone Mapping. Motion blur is reduced by using Samsung’s Motion Artefact Reduction technology. P-iris technology which optimises lens iris control to provide improved depth of field and sharpness. Defogfeature which can be used to help improve the clarity of images captured in poor weather conditions such as rain, snow or fog. Digital Image Stabilization (DIS), previously only seen in analogue chipsets, negates the effects of a camera shaking due to high winds or building vibration. Simple Focus feature which automatically focuses the camera and is built into most of the models. We are certain this will impress installers in terms of the potential to reduce installation and maintenance time, as all that is needed is one simple push of a button on the back of the camera to achieve optical focus. Multi-crop feature enables users to also highlight and crop up to nine areas of interest in order for the camera to only send the images within that area at a preferred resolution and frame rate. Further bandwidth and recording space savings can also be achieved with the help of the third generation of Samsung’s highly acclaimed Super Noise Reduction (SSNR) technology, which eliminates image noise in low light conditions. There is also the option of using Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) to detect activity by various means, such as face detection, tripwire and enter/exit direction, object appear/disappear and ‘tampering’. Alternatively, the motion detection technology built into the WiseNetIIIDSP chipset can greatly reduce the false alarm rate by learning what is the normal motion of the scene and ignoring, for example, the fluttering leaves on trees. Users can also take advantage of audio detection technology which can further help reduce false alarms by being set up to only react to abnormal sounds.  As is the case with all Samsung professional security products, the cameras in the WiseNetIII range are supplied with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.
