His range of experience began with software development work at companies like McDonnell Douglas, Apollo Computers, and Hewlett-Packard as well as freelance consulting. In 1989, Mark founded Advanced Software Concepts, a software company that grew to prominence in the hierarchical storage management industry. In 1997, he founded Avail Solutions, a software company specialising in multi-tiered backup.
