The Security Industry Association (SIA) has named Kim Loy and Brendan McFall as the 2023 recipients of the SIA Chair’s Award, an award presented annually and selected by SIA’s Board of Directors chair recognising SIA members’ diligent efforts in furthering the association’s mission and commitment to its future.

SIA will present Loy and McFall with the award at The Advance, SIA’s annual membership meeting, which will be held March 28 during ISC West. Kim Loy, a security industry veteran with more than 25 years of senior management experience, has achieved significant success within a wide variety of global enterprises.

Learning and development activities

In her most recent role as chief product officer for ACRE, she oversaw the company’s brands, strategic product planning and cybersecurity strategy and provided direction for messaging strategy and communications development.

Loy has held senior positions with Vanderbilt International, GE Security, G4S, Xtralis and Pelco by Schneider Electric. She was also inducted into the Security Hall of Fame and recognised in the inaugural SIA Women Security Forum Power 100 in March 2022. Loy was also a recipient of the 2020 Women of Technology Award. Loy has served three terms on the SIA Board of Directors and two terms as a member of the Executive Committee. She was recognised as SIA’s Volunteer of the Year in 2006, is a past co-chair of SIA’s Access Control and Identity Subcommittee and has been active within SIA’s standards and learning and development activities.

She is a strong advocate for SIA’s mission and has been an avid supporter of the association’s cybersecurity programming, the Securing New Ground conference and the efforts of the SIA Women in Security Forum.

Young professionals advance

McFall began his career in 2014 as executive assistant for Northland Control’s

After graduating from St. Mary’s College of Maryland, Brendan McFall ‘stumbled’ into the security industry. McFall began his career in 2014 as executive assistant for Northland Control’s CEO, Pierre Trapanese. Since then, he has taken on a number of different roles at Northland, most recently becoming the East Coast operations manager in 2022. Outside of Northland, McFall remains active in the wider security industry and is passionate about helping young professionals advance in their careers.

In 2018, McFall served as chair of the SIA RISE community for young security professionals and those new to the security industry, and he leads RISE’s subcommittee responsible for the annual AcceleRISE conference, presented by RISE and designed for tomorrow’s security leaders.

Life safety industry

In 2020 he became a board member of the Foundation for Advancing Security Talent, a nonprofit founded by SIA and the Electronic Security Association dedicated to connecting passionate, innovative professionals with new opportunities in the electronic security and life safety industry. He is also an instructor for SIA’s Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM) Review Course.

SIA will honour the 2023 recipients of the SIA Member of the Year Award

The Advance 2023 will take place on Tuesday, March 28, at 10:30 a.m. in The Venetian Expo during ISC West. 

At this special membership meeting, attendees will hear a presentation from special guest speaker Christopher Grniet, global head of security and safety strategy at Visa; review official association business; meet the new SIA board members and participate in SIA elections; recognise volunteer achievements from the past year; and exchange market intelligence for the year ahead.

In addition to presenting the SIA Chair’s Award, SIA will honour the 2023 recipients of the SIA Member of the Year Award, Sandy Jones Volunteer of the Year Award and Committee Chair of the Year Award.
