All models in the Samsung 7002 Professional series are able to capture images at a broad range of resolutions from 320 x 180 to 2048 x 1536 and include Full HD 1080p resolution displayed in 16:9 format. An advanced Wide Dynamic Range (WDR) feature ensures that everything in a scene can be clearly seen, even when images contain both very bright and very dark areas, whilst Progressive Scan technology negates motion blur and ensures sharp edges on moving subjects and vehicles. “The specifications for the new 7002 Professional series take into account the requirements of end-users who want a lot more from a high definition camera other than evidence grade images, and they also reflect the needs of installers,” said Tim Biddulph, IP Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. “A Simple Focus feature, for example, automatically focuses the camera. All that is needed is one simple push of a button on the back of the camera to achieve optical focus. This will obviously result in reduced installation time. However, there is an additional advantage offered by this very clever feature in that when the camera mode changes from colour to monochrome with the help of the camera’s true Day & Night function, the Simple Focus automatically optimizes the back focus required for clear sharp images.” The 7002 Professional series is supported by many of the leading Video Management Software (VMS platforms as well as Samsung’s Centralized Monitoring Software. Other key features which are common to all models include facial detection and audio detection with the use of an external microphone . Also included is Intelligent Video Analytics which provides Motion Detection, Appear/Disappear, Virtual Line/Enter/Exit detection and a camera tampering alarm function. The new cameras and domes support multi-streaming of video using either H.264 and MJPEG compression and can therefore be simultaneously used for real-time monitoring, mobile monitoring, high quality or high-efficiency recording, SD memory recording and for E-mail notification purposes.“With the launch of the 7002 Professional series and our LiteNet range of  ‘affordable’ megapixel and HD cameras and domes earlier in the year, we can now truly claim to be able to offer customers a high definition  video surveillance solution for virtually any type of project,” said Tim Biddulph. “Customers can also take advantage of the fact that both series are compatible with our recently introduced SRN-1000 network video recorder which has been designed to offer a ‘building block’ approach to the process of specifying a video storage solution.”

Hanwha Techwin America Techwin upgrade for IP Network cameras dynamically improves bandwidth usage
Hanwha Techwin America Techwin upgrade for IP Network cameras dynamically improves bandwidth usage

Samsung Techwin has introduced a firmware upgrade that has dramatically reduced the bandwidth and video storage requirements of the company’s IP network cameras, domes and encoders. “The Samsung Techwin software engineering team has devised some very clever improvements to our version of the H.264 method of compressing images and as a result, a much lower bitrate is required to transmit the high quality images captured by our HD megapixel cameras,” said Tim Biddulph, IP Product Manager for Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd. “Our 3MP Full HD models, for example, previously needed a bit rate of 10Mbps, but now only require 3Mbps to ensure that there are no latency issues or that artefacts do not spoil the quality of the video when customers have configured the cameras to capture images at the highest possible resolution.”  The upgraded firmware, which applies to almost all of Samsung Techwin’s IP network models, can be downloaded free of charge by customers from the product section at www.samsungsecurity.co.uk. “The improvement in the bitrate is in itself a major benefit to our customers because it reduces the amount of bandwidth and storage required to operate an effective video surveillance system,” said Tim Biddulph. “The firmware upgrade however innovatively offers a lot more in terms of transmission efficiency in that it is able to dynamically adjust the transmission bitrate and compression settings depending on the level of activity that may be occurring within a camera’s  field of view. There is little need to transmit very high quality images of an empty building or car park at night, but when however there is activity this needs to be transmitted. Our upgraded firmware automatically takes this into account and adjusts the camera settings accordingly. This results in a much more efficient and effective use of the available bandwidth.”

Hanwha Techwin America introduces the WiseNetIII 2MP Full HD network camera range
Hanwha Techwin America introduces the WiseNetIII 2MP Full HD network camera range

WiseNet III 2MP Full HD network camera range The eight camera models incorporate Samsung’s new WiseNetIII DSP chipset, which has been developed by the company as a result of a market research programme carried out by its worldwide product management team. This identified what users and installers felt were the key ‘must haves’ in order for high definition IP network cameras to automatically become the preferred choice when a new video surveillance system was being specified, or an existing system was being upgraded. The extremely impressive set of features incorporated in to the WiseNet III range include: All of the models can capture high quality images when the lighting level is as low as 0.01 lux. An ultra fast frame rate of 60fps at 1080p which results in latency free clear images. This can be particularly beneficial in a scene with moving subjects by ensuring thatimage edges are kept sharp and clear. Enhanced Wide Dynamic Range which when working with performance greater than 100dB,can accurately produce images in scenes that simultaneously contain very bright and very dark areas. Correct colour is maintained by adopting Regional Adaptive Tone Mapping. Motion blur is reduced by using Samsung’s Motion Artefact Reduction technology. P-iris technology which optimises lens iris control to provide improved depth of field and sharpness. Defogfeature which can be used to help improve the clarity of images captured in poor weather conditions such as rain, snow or fog. Digital Image Stabilization (DIS), previously only seen in analogue chipsets, negates the effects of a camera shaking due to high winds or building vibration. Simple Focus feature which automatically focuses the camera and is built into most of the models. We are certain this will impress installers in terms of the potential to reduce installation and maintenance time, as all that is needed is one simple push of a button on the back of the camera to achieve optical focus. Multi-crop feature enables users to also highlight and crop up to nine areas of interest in order for the camera to only send the images within that area at a preferred resolution and frame rate. Further bandwidth and recording space savings can also be achieved with the help of the third generation of Samsung’s highly acclaimed Super Noise Reduction (SSNR) technology, which eliminates image noise in low light conditions. There is also the option of using Intelligent Video Analytics (IVA) to detect activity by various means, such as face detection, tripwire and enter/exit direction, object appear/disappear and ‘tampering’. Alternatively, the motion detection technology built into the WiseNetIIIDSP chipset can greatly reduce the false alarm rate by learning what is the normal motion of the scene and ignoring, for example, the fluttering leaves on trees. Users can also take advantage of audio detection technology which can further help reduce false alarms by being set up to only react to abnormal sounds.  As is the case with all Samsung professional security products, the cameras in the WiseNetIII range are supplied with full support services from Samsung Techwin Europe Ltd, including free system design, free technical support and a full three-year warranty.
