Securing more than 100 buildings is no easy feat, but it’s of utmost importance to the Department of Safety and Security at Fulton, which also includes the School Police and Student Health Services and Emergency.
With above-average student incident rates and student disciplinary concerns at some schools, upgrades to the security system were needed to allow better local and remote monitoring in important areas.

Avigilon video security and access control solutions

Its security system consists of Avigilon video security and access control solutions, and the school safety team and police department use Motorola Solutions APX™ P25 two-way radios to stay connected and keep students and personnel safe.
Enhanced situational awareness
FCS deployed an Access Control Manager™ system to secure physical access points in its buildings
To ensure that situational awareness is present across all its campuses, FCS installed Avigilon video security cameras with self-learning video analytics and Next-Generation Video Analytics, Avigilon network video recorders, and Avigilon Control Center (ACC) video management software with Avigilon Appearance Search™ technology.
FCS also deployed an Access Control Manager™ system to secure physical access points in its administrative buildings, which is seamlessly unified with ACC™ to incorporate a video component to access control alarms for easy verification of individuals at entry and exit points.
No Face Mask Detection technology
When faced with the unexpected rise of the COVID-19 pandemic, FCS was also quick to respond to keep its students and staff safe.
With ACC’s No Face Mask Detection technology, security operators receive alerts when the system detects individuals both in and around its schools who are not complying with face mask-wearing protocols and can quickly use their Motorola Solutions radios to communicate with nearby members of the school safety team who can address the behavior instantaneously.
