ZeroEyes, the creators of the only AI-based gun detection video analytics platform that holds the full U.S. Department of Homeland Security SAFETY Act Designation, announced that its proactive gun detection and intelligent situational awareness solution has been deployed by Elkhorn Public Schools (EPS) in Nebraska to proactively protect students, teachers, visitors and staff against gun-related threats.
Located on the west edge of the Omaha Metro area, Elkhorn Public Schools is a growing K-12 district that educates over 11,000 students annually.
Latest addition to security approach
The district has deployed ZeroEyes as the latest branch to its broad, multi-layered security approach
With 20 school buildings and two new facilities set to open during the next school year, the district is dedicated to accommodating its growing student population.
As part of its commitment to ensuring a secure learning environment, the district has deployed ZeroEyes as the latest addition to its comprehensive, multi-layered security approach.
Integration of ZeroEyes’ solution
"Our Camera systems have always been valuable for post-incident investigations, but with the integration of ZeroEyes’ solution as a force multiplier, we’re transforming them into a proactive safety solution,” said Brian Kempf, Director of School Safety and Security at Elkhorn Public Schools.
“This not only optimises our existing resources, but also gives us the confidence to reassure our students, staff, and families that our cameras are actively working to protect them. Furthermore, ZeroEyes’ Safety Act designation underscores the reliability and rigour of the technology, providing peace of mind that we are implementing a solution that has comprehensively proven its effectiveness."
Digital security cameras
ZeroEyes' AI gun detection and intelligent situational awareness software layers onto EPS’s existing cameras
ZeroEyes' AI gun detection and intelligent situational awareness software layers onto EPS’s existing digital security cameras. If a gun is identified, images are instantly shared with the ZeroEyes Operations Centre (ZOC), the industry's only U.S.-based, fully in-house operation centre, which is staffed 24/7/365 by military and law enforcement veterans.
If these experts determine that the threat is valid, they dispatch alerts and actionable intelligence — including visual description, gun type, and last known location — to first responders and school staff as quickly as 3 to 5 seconds from detection.
Integrating ZeroEyes
“The cornerstone of every school’s mission is to foster a challenging and enriching academic environment that empowers students with the knowledge and skills to become responsible citizens and lifelong learners,” said Mike Lahiff, CEO and co-founder of ZeroEyes.
“By integrating ZeroEyes, schools can shift their focus back to that core mission, allowing them to prioritise education over constant safety concerns. I applaud Elkhorn Public Schools for making the safety of its students a top priority, creating a secure environment where learning can truly thrive.”
