Integrating a Honeywell security and building management system for SmartCity Malta

Located at the heart of SmartCity Malta, "SCM01" is the first LEED certified green building designed to deliver a commitment to energy saving, water efficiency and CO2 emission reduction. 12,000m² of office space is secured and controlled by the Honeywell Pro-Watch SMS and the Tridium BMS integrated systems. To ensure optimal building efficiency, integrator Engineering for Science and Industry Malta enabled signal sharing between the two systems using the Honeywell software development kit. System data is used for energy-analytic reporting and Key Performance Indicators which monitor, measure and maintain optimum building performance.

Honeywell OmniAssure card readers control door entry and exit and can be programmed to activate personal temperature and lighting preferences depending on the card holder’s location. The integrated system can also assess building occupation levels 24/7 and optimise night time security.

Using a dynamic graphical interface, the security team at SmartCity Malta has total control over BMS and Pro-Watch system from the control room and also remotely, using computer tablets and smart phones. Honeywell MAXPRO VMS Video management system is deployed to manage video from all sources including public footpaths and car parks as well as intruder alarm outputs triggered by Honeywell detectors. In addition to security, Pro-Watch also displays and records critical alarms from other infrastructure systems within the BMS, enhancing safety and business continuity for building owners and occupants.
