Videx 2870 interface: Revolutionising intercom security

Videx Security has launched the 2870, a cutting-edge interface device designed for its popular range of 2-wire video kits, 2300 2-wire video bus system and 2200 digital bus system. The highly versatile module is set to transform how users manage and control their intercom systems, offering unprecedented flexibility and enhanced security features. Extensive Access Options: Supports 2000 proximity users, 400 unique access codes, and 32 temporary access codes, plus 2000 dial-to-open users and 32 temporary dial-to-open users, all with customisable access levels. Alarm Management: Capable of managing alarms from apartments, which can activate a relay or send an SMS message to a master number. Event Log: Maintains an event log accessible via the cloud, PC software, and apps for thorough monitoring and record-keeping. Additional Features: Free access, holiday settings, and various programmable options to tailor the system to specific needs. The 2870 can be retrofitted to existing systems or used in new installations, requiring only a 12Vdc power supply, antenna, and SIM card.

Access control and door entry management: How technology is driving change

Access control and door entry is a huge responsibility, and challenge, for local authorities and housing associations UK wide. For councils, they’re accountable for the security and safety of many public facilities such as leisure centres, libraries as well as residential housing developments which are often large scale and home to hundreds of people. Videx holds an SBD accreditation and we know, from first-hand experience, how it’s making a difference in keeping tenants safe. When you combine the safety features promoted by an SBD member company like ourselves with the likes of the Videx event logging, image capture and ability to modify access users on the go, for example, we can help to create a very safe and secure environment. Personally, I think there needs to be a greater emphasis on the role of security legislation Technology has completely transformed the way local authorities and housing association are able to choose, install and manage door entry and access control systems for tenants and visitors alike. In my role, I see weaknesses in systems and constant ongoing costs that could easily be avoided. Crime prevention We can also use live and logged events to help prevent crime in different ways, from antisocial behaviour growing around a tenant being called or visited much more regularly than others, to knowing a tenant is currently still living at a property but isn’t paying rent or answering to any correspondence. Technology enables local authorities and housing associations to receive detailed data and therefore behavioural insights on the people under their management and care. If consultants and specifiers are advised on the most appropriate systems that meet their specific entry needs, they can ensure greater, safer and more convenient access control that meets the requirements of both the end user and the those responsible for its effective management.
