Iris ID technology included in Ultra Electronics’ tactical information system for military application

Iris ID, a provider of iris biometric technology, announced its technology has been included in Ultra Electronics’ tactical information system for military applications. The Combat Apps Tactical System (CATS) allows secure communication between headquarters and frontline troops using a lightweight, tablet-based device. The next-generation CATS tablets provide secure, encrypted communication including voice, situational awareness, high bandwidth video and chat across all available networks. Iris ID R-100 camera The Iris ID’s R-100 camera and IrisAccelerator™ enables front-line operatives using CATS to capture biometric information for authenticating troop identity in real time using intelligence databases held securely and remotely at the mission headquarters. Iris recognition can also be used to verify troop identities before boarding ships, airplanes or other types of military transportation. Mohammed Murad, Vice President, global business development and sales for Iris ID, noted the speed and accuracy of the company’s iris recognition technology makes it ideal for military use – where reliable performance is critical. Murad said; “The Iris ID technology has been proven effective worldwide in remote locations and during extreme weather conditions for national ID and other programs. The R-100 will add valuable capability to Ultra’s CATS battlefield information systems.” Iris ID core technology CATS is intended to allow frontline troops to focus on their mission and react faster and more efficiently than the enemy. Communications becomes an enabler, not a limitation on operations and troop safety now is enhanced with the Iris ID identity authentication technology. Iris ID’s core technology, commercially available since 1997, helps protect borders and airports; is used for national ID and voter registration programmes; and provides access control and time-and-attendance for public and private organisations around the world.

Ultra ID upgrades Enduro range of printers with HoloKote watermark and in-line electronic encoding

Ultra ID, the UK-based manufacturer of Magicard ID card printers, announces the latest upgrade to its established Enduro range of printers. Built on a tried and tested platform, the Magicard Enduro3E is backed with a 3 year warranty, giving its users access to the most comprehensive global online and telephone support in the industry. HoloKote watermark for enhanced protection Every card printed on the Enduro3E can be secured with a HoloKote® anti-fraud watermark, with four different designs selectable from the Microsoft certified, Mac OS X compatible plug-and-play driver. Now with USB and Ethernet interfaces as standard, the Enduro3E is easy to install and easy to use. For additional electronic security, both magnetic stripe and smart card in-line encoding options are available. Andrew Cornelius, Ultra ID’s Technical Director, said: “ID card printing is often a critical operation. If you are a university with a line of students waiting to receive IDs or if you are issuing passes for a secure event, you need to ensure your printer won’t let you down on the day. The Enduro print engine is well-established, reliable and dependable. When you combine this with security options that include the HoloKote watermark and in-line electronic encoding, you have a printer and ID cards that can be trusted.” Applications Perfect for schools, colleges and medium sized businesses that print up to 10,000 cards per year, Ultra ID has commissioned many tens of thousands of Enduro series printers since its inception in 2008 and millions of secure ID cards are printed throughout the World on this platform every year. The Enduro 3E is shipping from Ultra ID’s UK manufacturing base in mid-September 2015 and can be viewed on Ultra ID’s booth (3E062) at the Cartes (Trustech) exhibition in Paris from 17th-19th November 2015.

Allegion’s aptiQ Alliance Program members highlight aptiQ smart card technology at ISC West 2014

End users will learn to better leverage smart credentials to build increasing number of solutions available Allegion PLC, a leading global provider of security products and solutions, recently announced that, in Booth 20031 at the ISC West Exposition, attendees will see how Allegion and members of the aptiQ Alliance Program have come together to create an ecosystem of applications that support aptiQ smart card technology. The Alliance consists of global companies that are using an open architecture smart card technology which extends the use of an access control card or near field communications (NFC)-enabled smart phone credential to an increasing number of applications. End users will learn how they can better leverage smart credentials to build out an increasing number of solutions available to them. “In the aptiQ Alliance section of the Allegion booth, attendees will be able to view open architecture offerings from a wide range of companies that have created an ecosystem of adjacent solutions,” explains Allegion Director of Technology Alliances Diane Kehlenbeck. “All these companies provide vertical market product suites or manufacture ancillary products that can be bundled as part of an overall smart solution.” Exhibitors in the Allegion booth include: 1st Choice Security Solutions – Ultra Long-Range RFID Access Smart – Logical Access Control Alvarado – Turnstiles BadgePass – Enrollment, Badge Printing and Visitor Management CBORD – Campus Solutions Gemalto – Converged Access Heartland – Campus Solutions Iris ID – Biometrics/Iris ISLOG – Logical Access Control Key Systems – Key and Asset Cabinets KSI – Logical Access Control/Keyboards Matica (formerly Digital ID) – Badge Printing, Enrollment and Encoding Microlatch – Biometrics/Mobile Mobile Security Solutions – Mobile Verification Nedap – Long-Range Vehicle Access NuVision Networks – Campus Solutions Sielox – Crisis Lockdown Alert System Status TagMaster NA – Long-Range Vehicle Access Ultra Electronics ID – Badge Printing, Enrollment and Encoding XID Technologies – Biometrics/Facial In addition, Alvarado (4109), BadgePass (31101), Iris ID (17115), Key Systems (25136), Matica (22128), Nedap (23103), Sielox (5117), TagMaster (36056) and Ultra Electronics (14115) will be displaying such solutions more in depth in their own booths.
