As organisations around the world struggle with extended downtime and revenue loss due to widespread cyberattacks, cybersecurity company Rubrik, Inc. announces Rubrik Turbo Threat Hunting. This unprecedented new feature is designed to dramatically accelerate cyber recovery and enables organisations to locate clean recovery points across their entire data estate in seconds. Turbo Threat Hunting aims to allow customers to immediately identify clean recovery points and swiftly recover from cyber incidents with minimal operational disruption. Rubrik Zero Labs report Turbo Threat Hunting is Rubrik’s key, enabling corps up to 75,000 backups in less than 60 seconds The most recent Rubrik Zero Labs report found that 60% of IT and security pioneers are extremely or very concerned about their organisation’s ability to maintain business continuity during a cyberattack. The traditional process of identifying clean backups can take days or even weeks, leaving organisations vulnerable to prolonged outages and devastating financial outcomes. Turbo Threat Hunting is Rubrik’s solution, enabling organisations to scan up to 75,000 backups in less than 60 seconds. Turbo Threat Hunting “This is the fastest way to recover from a cyberattack,” said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. “With Turbo Threat Hunting, we’re not just reducing recovery times — we’re redefining what’s possible in cyber resilience." "No other platform on the market can match our speed and scale, giving enterprises the confidence to quickly resume operations and protect their bottom line.” Rubrik’s metadata Turbo Threat Hunting scans at scale by leveraging pre-computed hashes within Rubrik’s metadata Unlike traditional methods that scan one object at a time or require navigating multiple panes of glass, Turbo Threat Hunting scans at scale by leveraging pre-computed hashes stored within Rubrik’s metadata. This eliminates the need for file-by-file scanning, allowing organisations to rapidly pinpoint the exact recovery points free from malware or other threats within seconds — even in the most complex data environments. Key features of Turbo Threat Hunting Pre-computed hashing: Use pre-computed hash values within Rubrik’s metadata to instantly locate malicious files without the need to mount and scan individual files. Quarantine malicious files: Backup metadata is updated to include history and quantity of now-discovered malicious files, reducing risk of human error in selecting the most recent backup without indicators of compromise. Multi-cluster scanning: Identify clean backups by scanning individual or multiple clusters and organisations’ entire environment with a single action, reducing complexity and pinpointing recovery points across all data simultaneously. Full estate analysis without disruption: Turbo Threat Hunting is designed to minimise production impacts while performing IOC sweeps across all workloads. Turbo Threat Hunting is available now through beta for all Rubrik Enterprise Edition and cloud customers. The feature is planned to be generally available by the end of January 2025.
Sensitive data exposure is a top concern given the volume and types of data consumed by generative AI (Gen AI). Inadequate sensitive data controls and resulting data leakage can halt the use of innovative AI tools. DSPM helps accelerate AI adoption by quickly and easily identifying data risks, which is why Rubrik, Inc. is announcing Rubrik DSPM in RSC. Available in early 2025, organisations can rapidly enable DSPM for increased data visibility and sensitive data control across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments from their existing Rubrik Security Cloud instance, without disruptive new data scans. Gen AI "Gen AI can unlock innovation for organisations of all sizes and industries, but it doesn’t come without challenges," said Mike Tornincasa, Chief Business Officer at Rubrik. He adds, "While many are eager to deploy these tools, ensuring the right data is being inputted can be a time-consuming task, ultimately slowing down implementation." Cyber Resilience platform Mike Tornincasa continues, "Additionally, organisations struggle to contain the risk of sensitive or critical data getting leaked through Gen AI, especially as that data grows rapidly across fragmented environments." He further states, "Having Rubrik DSPM within Rubrik's comprehensive Cyber Resilience platform reduces that complexity to help accelerate AI adoption, and secure data wherever it lives." Reduces data risks Rubrik DSPM allows its existing customers to simply activate DSPM capabilities within their current environment Unlike standalone DSPM solutions that require a lengthy, months-long deployment process, Rubrik DSPM allows existing Rubrik customers to simply activate DSPM capabilities within their current Rubrik environment. This activation empowers organisations to proactively reduce data risks across fragmented cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments, to accelerate secure AI adoption and ensure their sensitive data remains protected. Key benefits of DSPM in Rubrik Security Cloud Gain control and visibility of data: Automatically find and classify sensitive data across cloud, SaaS, and on-premises environments, and put security controls in place to reduce the risk of sensitive data exposure. Safely and confidently enable Gen AI use cases: Identify and remediate excessive permissions to reduce the risk of sensitive data exposure through Gen AI tools to unauthorised users. Identify and correct data classification: Identify and remediate missing or inaccurate data sensitivity labels to help prevent unauthorised user access to sensitive data. Drive immediate value: Leverage existing and trusted Rubrik Security Cloud infrastructure for DSPM to reduce deployment time, creation of multiple snapshots of data for disconnected tools, disruptive scans on live systems, and the need for additional security audits from a separate tool. Rubrik DSPM in Rubrik Security Cloud will be generally available in early 2025. For more information, register for the Cloud Resilience Summit taking place virtually on Wednesday, December 11, 2024.
Rubrik, Inc. announces the expansion of its pioneering cyber protection capabilities for cloud data that runs on AWS, designed to boost customers’ confidence and reduce the risk of downtime. Rubrik’s upcoming expanded capabilities aim to accelerate cyber resilience for joint customers by expediting the identification of and the response to hidden threats, and by shortening the time to cyber recovery. Expanded features for AWS Central to the new services will be RCV, an isolated, air-gapped, and immutable backup repository Central to the new services will be Rubrik Cloud Vault (RCV), an isolated, air-gapped, and immutable backup repository that is fully managed by Rubrik. In addition, the company will provide expanded features for AWS that include Anomaly Detection, Threat Monitoring, Threat Hunting, and Data Discovery & Classification. IT and security teams “Surviving a cyberattack is not as simple as just restoring from a backup. IT and security teams must also rapidly pinpoint when the attack occurred, identify what was compromised, and determine if sensitive data was impacted — all while trying to find a clean, safe recovery point,” said Anneka Gupta, Chief Product Officer at Rubrik. “This is no small task, but we believe the power of Rubrik and AWS makes it simple for organisations to bounce back quickly and safely while minimising the risk of reinfection. Together we will continue to bring our partnership to new heights to better protect organisations and join them on their journey to cyber resilience.” Key benefits of Rubrik Cloud Vault on AWS To protect against bad actors gaining access to backup data that is wholly managed within an organisation, businesses often turn to an isolated data vault to ensure proper data protection. This introduces complexities when it comes to maintaining and securing the isolated environment, which can be a manual, time-consuming process prone to human error. Rubrik Cloud Vault on AWS will be designed to address this by offering a fully managed, isolated, off-site archive for backup data. Key benefits of Rubrik Cloud Vault on AWS will be designed to include: Immutable and isolated data protection: Maintain off-site, immutable data copies in an isolated environment to withstand cyber threats and always be able to recover clean data to your organization's preferred environment. Rubrik-managed security: Gain fully managed Rubrik capabilities to maintain security including immutability, role-based access controls, advanced encryption, quorum authorisation, and comprehensive monitoring. Rubrik extends advanced security features to AWS With Rubrik, joint customers in AWS will have access to deeper insights into their sensitive data and emerging cyber threats. This includes Anomaly Detection, which determines the scope of cyberattacks using machine learning to detect deletions, modifications, and encryptions for optimal ransomware investigation and accelerated recovery time. The new advanced capabilities aim to help customers recover faster and with greater confidence, ensuring restoration from a verified, clean point of recovery. These features will include: Threat Monitoring: Accelerates investigations and reduces the risk of malware reinfection during recovery by automatically analysing backup snapshots for threats using an up-to-date threat intelligence feed. Threat Hunting: Provides insights that help avoid malware reinfection during recovery by analysing the history of data for indicators of compromise to identify the initial point, scope, and time of infection. Data Discovery & Classification: Reduces sensitive data exposure and manages exfiltration risk by locating sensitive data in files and applications to help organisations stay compliant. Anomaly Detection is currently available to all AWS customers, with exciting developments planned for Threat Hunting, Threat Monitoring, Data Discovery & Classification, and Rubrik Cloud Vault in early 2025. Rubrik will showcase its innovation on-site at AWS re:Invent 2024 in Las Vegas. Attendees can visit booth #1948.
