Shooter Detection Systems empowers communities, workplaces to deploy gunshot detection to increase safety

Shooter Detection Systems (SDS), an Alarm.com company and provider of the world’s pioneering gunshot detection solutions, will introduce a campaign at CES 2024 to empower individuals to make their schools, workplaces, and communities safer by employing lifesaving gunshot detection technology. In an active shooter situation, gunshot detection is highly effective at mitigating injury and loss of life but is often overlooked by federal funding sources that traditionally support a wide range of preventative gun violence measures. The #TakeAction initiative aims to educate individuals about gunshot detection’s crucial role in maintaining safe and secure spaces, as well as provide specific tools for consumers to advocate for gunshot detection to their school, government, and workplace providers. Deploy gunshot detection technology Campaign designed to provide people with resources to personally lobby their place of business “An average of one death can occur every 10 seconds during an active shooter event. So when a shooting starts, reducing the time it takes for authorities to get to the shooter is the most vital dimension,” said Stephen Carney, President, Shooter Detection Systems. “With gunshot detection technology, responders can know immediately that a gun has been fired and in what area of the building the shot occurred.” The campaign is also designed to provide people with the resources to personally lobby their place of business or child’s school to deploy gunshot detection technology to create a safer environment that can quickly alert law enforcement in the event of an active shooter incident. SDS gunshot technology SDS gunshot technology enables the communication of critical incident details within 10 seconds SDS gunshot technology enables the communication of critical incident details within 10 seconds to 911 to alert law enforcement as well as to individuals at the scene, using ResponderLink, a software-embedded integration with SDS sister company Noonlight.  SDS software alerts are intercepted by trained safety agents at Noonlight who provide a live URL dashboard of incident information to the 911 operator, including the push of continuous incident information such as where the latest shots were fired. SDS’ Active Shooter Intelligence By combining purpose-built acoustic and infrared sensors with proprietary detection algorithms, SDS’ Active Shooter Intelligence accurately detects, verifies, and validates a gunshot with 99.9% accuracy, and virtually zero false alarms.  SDS will be participating in a pair of media events at CES. The first event is CES unveiled, which will be held on Sunday, January 7th from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at the Mandalay Bay Convention Centre. The second event is Pepcom, which will take place on Monday, January 8th from 7 to 10:30 p.m. at The Mirage.

SDS introduces ResponderLink to revolutionise emergency notification for active shooter events

Shooter Detection Systems (SDS), an Alarm.com company and a pioneer in gunshot detection solutions, has introduced ResponderLink, a groundbreaking new 911 notification service for gunshot events. ResponderLink completes the circle from detection to 911 notification to first responder awareness, giving law enforcement the enhanced situational intelligence they urgently need to save lives. Integrating SDS’s proven gunshot detection system with Noonlight’s SendPolice platform, ResponderLink is the first solution to automatically deliver real-time gunshot detection data to 911 call centers and first responders. When shots are detected, the 911 dispatching centre, also known as the Public Safety Answering Point or PSAP, is contacted based on the gunfire location, enabling faster initiation of life-saving emergency protocols.  Advanced situational awareness ResponderLink also enables the delivery of alerts to a customer-defined list of stakeholders and the integrator servicing the location. By opening the lines of communication between first responders and facility managers, ResponderLink aids in the overall coordination of emergency response to the location. Leveraging Noonlight’s emergency response call centre, trained safety agents provide 911 operators access to a live web dashboard showing shot details, location, and progression as an incident unfolds. First responders on the way to the scene are empowered with ongoing updates for advanced situational awareness when approaching an active threat. For SDS customers, ResponderLink completes the circle as an all-in-one system for unparalleled gunshot detection, 911 notification, and emergency response coordination. False gunshot detections Active shooter incidents require extraordinary speed and coordination between 911 dispatch" “Active shooter incidents require extraordinary speed and coordination between 911 dispatch and first responders,” said Rich Onofrio, Chief Technology Officer. “Our new ResponderLink transforms emergency communication and response by linking real-time gunshot intelligence to the first critical seconds of an incident. This has game-changing potential to save lives.” “We’re excited to partner with SDS, a technology that eliminates the frenzy of false gunshot detections and further protects people in the most prevalent and heartbreaking threat facing our schools and businesses today,” said Zach Winkler, President of Noonlight. Zach Winkler adds, “Our ability to quickly communicate the exact location and progression of gunshots throughout a building or campus is critical to empowering first responders, reducing response times, and saving lives. It’s a powerful integration, and one that certainly furthers our mission.” Offering product demonstrations By streamlining notification and equipping first responders with live data, ResponderLink enables law enforcement and EMS to approach active shooter events with the highest level of preparation to swiftly neutralise threats. As part of the standard SDS subscription, ResponderLink is now available to all new and existing customers. SDS will be offering product demonstrations including ResponderLink at the Global Security Exchange 2023 event in Dallas, Texas, USA, from September 11-13, 2023.
