ASSA ABLOY, the global provider of door opening solutions, announced the integration of their Aperio™ wireless lock technology with EdgeConnector: the physical access control software from Dot Origin that radically strengthens and simplifies access management. The Aperio integration offers Dot Origin customers an easy, affordable way to connect additional openings to their new and existing EdgeConnector installations. Aperio is a global wireless platform available across a broad range of locking hardware from ASSA ABLOY Group brands, offering the flexibility to address a variety of applications throughout any facility. Controlling IP networked connected doors The Dot Origin EdgeConnector solution has been integrated with the Aperio IP hub, allowing the use of existing IT infrastructure to connect up to 16 openings per hub. EdgeConnector’s unique architecture unifies physical and IT access management by extending the power and flexibility of existing IT-access control infrastructure (typically based on Microsoft Active Directory) to handle IP network connected doors. The many benefits this IT-centric approach brings to customers includes: automatic coverage of all locations, all doors and all personnel anywhere on a global IP network, streamlined permissions administration, and location-aware IT-access control capabilities that can restrict the use of sensitive data and critical applications to within physically secured areas. With EdgeConnector, Aperio IP hubs simply connect directly to the network without any need for intermediate panels" Centralised access control Dan Isaaman, Chief Technical Officer and co-founder of Dot Origin, said: “We have made sure our integration maximises the power and versatility that Aperio wireless technology can bring to physical access control installations. With EdgeConnector, Aperio IP hubs simply connect directly to the network without any need for intermediate panels, delivering real-time, centralised, access control decision-making across any number of sites.” “Our end customers are really impressed with the flexibility offered by the Aperio solution, which can also be incorporated into installations alongside wired door controllers from our other partners.”
ASSA ABLOY, global door opening solutions provider, has announced several new and exciting partnerships that provide integrators with security solutions to create new opportunities for collaboration with both existing and potential clients. Software integrations The new partnerships include: Averics, BluB0X, Dot Origin, Identiv and Viscount. In addition, ASSA ABLOY is also collaborating with select access control partners to ensure easy integration of its PIV-enabled WiFi and PoE locks with access control systems. AccessNsite, Lenel, Open Options and RS2 are the first four partners to complete an integration with the PIV-enabled solutions. Averics is integrating its AvericsUnity software with ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio wireless lock technology “When we seek out partnerships we look to work with companies that share our values,” said Martin Huddart, President, Access and Egress Hardware Group, ASSA ABLOY Americas. “That means partnering with those who make it a core mission to protect the people and places that matter most. With this list of partners, it is clear we are achieving that goal, and in turn offering integrators some incredible solutions to bring to their clients.” Aperio wireless lock-AvericsUnity integration Averics is integrating its AvericsUnity software – the browser-based, cost effective, easy-to-use access control system – with ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio wireless lock technology and its IP-enabled PoE (Power over Ethernet) and WiFi access control locks. Role-based security models are extended to include physical door access privileges with EdgeConnector EdgeConnector is a converged physical and logical access management solution that adds location-aware access validation to Microsoft Active Directory, delivering compliance and cyber security benefits as well as streamlining physical access control management through an IP network. Data security and identity management Compliance and data security requirements for the restriction of access to sensitive data and applications within secure areas are supported through EdgeConnector, by enabling a user’s security group membership to be dynamically changed based on their location. Role-based security models, administered by existing Active Directory based identity management platforms, are extended to include physical door access privileges with EdgeConnector. This avoids security gaps and user information duplication between separate physical and logical access control systems to provide security by default. While hybrid and cloud-based operation has been possible with previous versions of EdgeConnector, the latest release now enables the solution to scale seamlessly across multiple domains within a ‘domain forest’, covering any number of sites and users. This caters for organisations that have expanded through mergers and acquisitions but kept separate constituent domains within their IT network. Scalability and compliance support "The latest release of EdgeConnector software makes it fully scalable" “The latest release of EdgeConnector software makes it fully scalable, straight out of the box; from a server rack to whole buildings, across multiple sites worldwide and for any number of users, without the costs and complexity encountered when trying to extend traditional physical access control systems,” said Dan Isaaman, CTO and Co-founder of Dot Origin Ltd. Customers who have beta tested EdgeConnector V3.5.0 have responded enthusiastically. “Its scalability and compliance support through direct integration with our IT access controls makes EdgeConnector a brilliant product,” states Michael French, CISO for Stonehage Fleming Wealth Management. EdgeConnector is compatible with a range of physical access control hardware, including HID Global’s Edge wired door controllers and ASSA ABLOY’s Aperio wireless IP controlled door and server cabinet locks.
