Blickfeld and Senstar expand 3D LiDAR partnership globally

Following the successful collaboration across Europe, Blickfeld GmbH, a Munich-based 3D LiDAR specialist, and Senstar, a global technology pioneer in advanced sensing and information management, including perimeter and outdoor security, announce the expansion of their partnership. The partnership will now extend globally, enhancing both companies’ abilities to deliver cutting-edge security solutions to a wider market. Advanced 3D LiDAR technology Since the partnership's inception, Blickfeld’s 3D LiDAR sensor, Blickfeld QbProtect, has been integrated into Senstar's portfolio of perimeter security systems. This marks the first time Senstar is offering 3D LiDAR technology to its customers. The sensor’s ability to detect intruders using advanced 3D LiDAR technology has proven to be a significant asset, particularly in critical infrastructure projects. Additionally, the sensor integrates seamlessly with Senstar's Symphony Common Operating Platform, which includes VMS, creating a comprehensive, unified solution for perimeter intrusion detection—a capability that both companies recently showcased at major industry events such as Security Essen, Data Centre World Asia in Singapore and ISC East in New York. Enhanced customer benefits Blickfeld’s advanced 3D LiDAR solutions will now be available to Senstar customers globally With this expansion, Blickfeld’s advanced 3D LiDAR solutions will now be available to Senstar customers globally. By integrating Blickfeld QbProtect into its portfolio, Senstar is strengthening its existing range of sensing systems with the cutting-edge benefits of 3D LiDAR technology.  This addition supports Senstar in tackling complex security challenges across diverse sectors, offering precise object detection, enhanced situational awareness, and robust perimeter protection through 3D LiDAR. Perimeter security solutions Fabien Haubert, CEO of Senstar, highlighted the significance of the partnership for their global strategy: "The expansion of our partnership with Blickfeld is a key step in our commitment to delivering cutting-edge perimeter security solutions on a global scale." "Blickfeld’s 3D LiDAR technology provides unparalleled detection capabilities, and we are excited to offer this powerful solution to our customers worldwide.” Range of security applications Dr. Mathias Müller, CEO of Blickfeld, expressed his enthusiasm about the partnership expansion: “Our collaboration with Senstar has already demonstrated the value our 3D LiDAR technology brings to perimeter security solutions. Senstar’s expertise in perimeter protection has made them an ideal partner, and we are thrilled to now extend this partnership globally." "Together, we can bring Blickfeld QbProtect to a wider range of industries and security applications across the world, offering innovative, high-performance solutions to meet evolving security needs."

Blickfeld to exhibit perimeter security solutions using 3D LiDAR sensors and associated detection software, ‘Percept’ at Security Essen 2022

Blickfeld, a globally renowned manufacturer of LiDAR hardware and software solutions, will present a solution for the highest perimeter security at Security Essen 2022, using 3D LiDAR sensors and the associated detection software ‘Percept’, to measure the distance and actual size of objects, ultimately significantly reducing the number of false alarms. In a live demo at Blickfeld’s booth 6A26 in Hall 6, visitors will have the opportunity to see for themselves how the protection system works. Camera-based security systems By using camera-based security systems, false alarms are often triggered through misperceiving the size of intruding objects. For instance, cameras may overestimate the size of insects flying by surveillance cameras due to technically-induced optical illusions. When backlit by spotlights, insects can shine so brightly they may completely blind cameras, causing them to completely miss other objects altogether. LiDAR sensors measure distances LiDAR sensors measure distances and therefore do not succumb to the distance and size illusion Unlike cameras, LiDAR sensors measure distances and therefore do not succumb to the distance and size illusion. LiDAR measures distances and sizes by capturing the surrounding environments in three dimensions with hundreds of thousands of laser pulses per second. The critical aspect here is its resolution, determining the size at which an object can be detected. The Blickfeld sensors are characterised by an extremely high resolution of up to more than 500 laser lines - about 60 times more than other current high-end sensor technologies. Blickfeld ‘Percept’ software In addition, the Blickfeld ‘Percept’ software demonstrates outstanding flexibility, in both its setup and operation. Users can use the software to define virtual zones in which objects are detected and specify the object’s size at which an alarm is triggered. This ultimately reduces false alarms caused by animals or branches, as well as any associated safety risks. Dr. Florian Petit, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Blickfeld, said “Overall, Blickfeld’s solution is characterised by the highest safety standards and reliability, being used in demanding projects every day. The sensors are used primarily in facilities with high security requirements, for example in critical infrastructures i.e. reducing alarm fatigue among security personnel effectively. The sensors also significantly reduce daily operational costs and efforts.”

Blickfeld announces the expansion of its US operations, in order to fuel company growth plans

Blickfeld, the breakthrough LiDAR sensor technology company creating innovative hardware and software products, will be expanding its operations into the United States of America (USA). To support Blickfeld’s operations on the ground in the USA, the company will open a new office in the Detroit area, establishing its strategic North American location. Blickfeld plans to hire 25 more people by the end of 2023. New appointment to head up the US division Heading up the US division will be the company’s new hire, Patrick L Pylypuik, who has been recruited as Head of Sales in the North America region. With over 20 years experience, Pylypuik will support company growth by building critical relationships with new and existing customers and partners in the US. Before joining Blickfeld, Patrick L Pylypuik was the Vice President of Sales at Symbio Robotics (Andreessen Horowitz funded) and the Vice President of Sales and Marketing at publicly traded autonomous vehicle supplier, NAVYA Group. Blickfeld’s LiDAR solutions Blickfeld’s LiDAR is disrupting various industries by providing digital 3D data about environments A core focus for the company’s expansion will be its revolutionary software capabilities in the volume measurement and logistics, crowd analytics and security space. Blickfeld’s LiDAR is disrupting various industries by providing digital 3D data about environments - helping to offset significant inaccuracies and financial burdens. From agriculture and forestry to construction and mining, there are opportunities for entire operations in the USA to profit from more accurate and efficient business planning and operation - cutting costs and increasing companies’ competitive advantage. Automotive sector plays a key role for Blickfeld in USA Dr. Florian Petit, the Co-Founder of Blickfeld comments, “Expanding our presence in the US provides us with a whole new set of opportunities, from an operational and partner perspective. We look forward to expanding our industry capabilities and helping companies across many different industries, to optimise their operation. In addition to industrial applications, the automotive sector continues to play a key role for Blickfeld in the US. ” Patrick L Pylypuik, Head of Sales in North America comments, “It’s been a pleasure to join Blickfeld at this point of fast growth - the North America region provides us with many new partner opportunities and nurturing these new relationships will be critical for Blickfeld’s international presence. I am particularly excited about the challenge of bringing a new technology to market - one which can benefit many industries.” Focus on software capabilities “Currently, the focus is on our software capabilities, but beyond this, there are countless use cases, for example, to secure critical infrastructure or to provide retailers with anonymous data on customers' in-store movement patterns, which can be incredibly valuable.”
