Bird Home Automation and Fingerprint Cards AB announce integration of Doorbird IP video door station with biometric fingerprint sensor

Bird Home Automation, a Berlin-based manufacturer of ‘DoorBird’ IP access control devices, is expanding its product portfolio, to include door intercoms with an integrated fingerprint sensor. IP video door stations of the D21x series are now equipped with fingerprint technology from Fingerprint Cards AB, a renowned global biometrics company, based in Sweden. This enables biometric authentication via fingerprint. DoorBird door station with mobile access With a DoorBird door station, home owners and residents can see and speak to their visitors and delivery services on-the-go, via their smartphones and unlock the door, when needed. Each door intercom features an HD wide-angle camera, motion sensor and audio system, with echo and noise cancellation. Keyless access control via RFID or PIN code is now complemented by a new option, via biometric fingerprint. Fingerprint reader integration with Doorbird software The full-frame touch sensor is based on patented technology by Fingerprint Cards AB The full-frame touch sensor is based on patented technology by Fingerprint Cards AB and meets high convenience and security standards, when compared to line-based sensors. The fingerprint reader is fully integrated into the DoorBird software architecture and can be configured remotely at any time. Via app or web-based dashboard, the user can grant and withdraw access permissions, and also define which event should follow, when a certain finger is detected. For example, an internal or external relay can be triggered, or an HTTP(S) command can be carried out. To prevent manipulation attempts, the fingerprint scanner is temporarily locked, after ten unauthorised access attempts. Fully integrated biometric fingerprint sensor The fingerprint sensor is integrated in DoorBird models with one and two call buttons: D2101FV Fingerprint 50 and D2102FV Fingerprint 50. Each door intercom can store up to 50 fingerprints. Furthermore, customers can create their own customised IP video door stations equipped with a fingerprint sensor and other individual modules via the DoorBird 3D Configurator. “Thanks to the cooperation with Fingerprints Cards AB, we can fulfill many of our customers’ requests for high-quality IP access control devices, with a fully integrated biometric fingerprint sensor,” said Sascha Keller, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bird Home Automation. Bird Home Automation and Fingerprint Cards AB partnership Sascha Keller adds, “When it comes to collaborations, we always try to work with the best in their class and that is why we have integrated this technology, which is characterised by a superior biometric performance and security, into our DoorBird IP video door stations.” “We are excited about our collaboration with DoorBird, our first IP Door Station partner in EMEA, who now launched their D21x series with our fingerprint sensor, a solution that is suitable for smart homes, where biometrics bring convenience and security,” said Michel Roig, the Senior Vice President (SVP) - Business Line Payment & Access at Fingerprint Cards AB.

Bird Home Automation announces the release of ‘D2100E Accessibility’ intercom module, under their DoorBird brand

The new DoorBird add-on module enables accessible door communication. Through acoustic and visual signals, DoorBird intercoms help people with impaired hearing or vision to enter buildings. Accessible communication systems must simultaneously address two of the three senses – sight, hearing and touch. The so-called two-sense principle ensures that entrance areas are accessible and usable for people with sensory impairments, without the help of third parties. ‘D2100E Accessibility’ intercom module The new module is integrated into DoorBird intercom systems and is used in particular in public buildings To meet these requirements, Bird Home Automation developed the special ‘D2100E Accessibility’ intercom module. The new module is integrated into DoorBird intercom systems and is used in particular in public buildings, such as educational institutions, hospitals and retirement homes. On the ‘Accessibility’ module, the current status of a DoorBird door station is visualised with three pictograms: call, talk and open door. In addition, the module has a hearing loop that can wirelessly transmit the audio signal from the intercom to the visitor's hearing aid. Visual display and induction loop The visual display and induction loop make communication easier for people with hearing impairment and all hearing aid users. In addition, Braille can be added to the IP-based door intercoms, so that the information is easy to feel. This also reduces the sensory barrier for people with visual impairments. Existing IP video door stations of the D21x series can be retrofitted with the ‘DoorBird D2100E Accessibility’ integration module. New door stations can be equipped with the additional module, with just one click and ordered via the 3D configurator.
