The WavestoreUSA open platform video storage and management solution is the basis for an upgraded video security system at Water’s Edge Condominiums in Clearwater, Florida. Offering best in breed IP based video, security and network related products, Tampa-based security systems integrator, FutureProofSurveillanceNetworks (FPSN), upgraded aged analogue devices at Water’s Edge Tower to a complete IP surveillance system utilising a WavestoreUSA P4 48 TB/64-channel unit to manage cameras, which allows remote monitoring and store video recording.
Open platform system
The Water’s Edge Home Owner’s Association (HOA) wants to keep an eye on the property, control visitors and protect the residents of the condominium complex. The WavestoreUSA system allows any video feed to be viewed instantly and can easily be scaled as security requirements change. Converting an analogue system to IP network electronic technology, the WavestoreUSA P4 offers the integrator ease of installation and camera configuration.
FPSN Manager/Partner, Breck Eon Gabler, explains that one of the reasons FPSN won the job was the integrator’s insistence on upgrading the site to IP standards. “WavestoreUSA was a great help in securing this project,” said Gabler. “I knew I could rely on the WavestoreUSA open platform system to support a variety of high resolution IP cameras and offer the client the best product for the best price, while providing better image quality, scalability and ease of use.”
Central monitoring for entire facility
Built in 2008 and referred by some as “The Ghost Tower,” for more than five years the Water’s Edge condominium tower loomed empty over downtown Clearwater until the economy rebounded and new investors were in place. “The site is a combo retail and high rise living community,” said Gabler. Today the 153 luxury condo complex is filled to capacity with professionals, retirees and downsizing empty-nesters.
“We are proud of our partnership with Breck and FPSN,” said Randy Miller, WavestoreUSA Vice President of Sales. “As FPSN continues to successfully design state-of-the-art solutions, we are honoured that the WavestoreUSA platform is the foundation upon which FPSN brings world class video management to an impressive client list.”
The initial conversion of 37 analogue cameras, replaced by a combination of VIVOTEK IP domes, Hikvision IP PTZs and MOBOTIX 360 degree cameras, requires fewer IP cameras be used for full coverage. Allowing the ability to control each device centrally from one main control unit, guards at the front desk concierge area can see great views of the entire facility including each zone in every direction on each level within the parking garage.
The project has since been expanded from the original 35 IP cameras to include a total of 48 high resolution IP cameras. “Keeping in mind our plans to expand the system, the WavestoreUSA server and software are a very important aspect,” said Gerber. With the WavestoreUSA P4, he is confident he can grow this system as needs evolve.
