Urmet has added to its range of residential door entry monitors with the release of the Miro hands-free video entry phone. The unit is compatible with Urmet’s 2-wire system (2-Voice) and other compatible external entry panels. This advanced feature-rich colour indoor station allows installers to give both clients and end-users the latest functions while still using only two non-polarised wires.

The Miro hands-free is designed to give residents maximum security by allowing them to view callers on a 4.3” 16:9 colour monitor and communicate with them via intercom before granting or refusing access. The screen is housed within a unit boasting the sleek lines synonymous with Urmet’s hallmark continental design.

Users benefit from features such as auto door open if no interaction at the door phone is required, built-in induction loop for hearing aids, ringer selection, precise image adjustment and panic call to a concierge switchboard. There are three extra buttons available for non-standard functions, such as additional entrance opening, staircase light control and gate automation.

Home automation compatible

Urmet’s Miro range is all about empowering users to take control of their living space with the hands-free unit featuring two buttons for connection with modules that allow automation of common activities within an apartment. (Typically these are opening and shutting roller blinds and the switching or dimming of lights.)

The Miro range offers three different levels of entry phone

The hands-free colour Miro door station heads up the group of 2-Voice-compatible indoor stations, which are graduated according to budget. For mid-range accommodation, installers may opt for the Miro Video, a colour non-hands-free model with handset which also features a 4.3” 16:9 colour monitor and broadly similar functions to the hands-free version (excluding modules allowing home automation).

Urmet recognises that residents from all income levels and accommodation types need secure door entry. The Miro range addresses the social and affordable housing sector with an audio-only door entry phone which also includes three auxiliary buttons for non-standard functions, has an ‘auto-on’ facility and integrated induction loop for hearing aid users.

Problem-free installation

The two-wire approach is ideal for new-build projects as well as for refurbishments where use of the existing cable system means equipment can be upgraded with no structural change to the building or disruption for occupants, making it attractive to architects and property managers as well as security installers.

Installers benefit from problem-free installations using only two wires between the entrance panel and the apartment, with no reliance on additional switchgear. Resident security can also be enhanced with the easy integration of video surveillance. The Miro can be wall-or flush-mounted and easily programmed using a DIP-switch. A 2-Voice system using these entry phones and Urmet’s external two-wire entrance panels can enable a site to accommodate up to 4,096 users.

Mark Hagger, Urmet’s Sales and Marketing Director, said: “The Miro range has been strengthened following feedback from our client base that a two-wire installation is often the ideal approach for both new sites and retro fit. The Miro range now offers three different levels of entry phone for budget, mid-range and high-end properties, which are ideal counterparts for our 2-wire compatible entrance panels.”
