Tyco Security Products, part of Johnson Controls, announced that Sur-Gard now supports PSTN line cards on the SG-System 5 receiver to give central stations the flexibility to monitor both IP and PSTN alarm signals to create the most powerful receiver solution to date.

SG-System 5 IP and PSTN

With this enhancement, SG-System 5 can support a combination of 24 IP or PSTN line cards. More than 150 communication formats are supported through the PSTN line cards, which features patented Automatic Hand Shake (AHS) technology to remember the required handshake and/format of the incoming events resulting in an expedited signal processing time.

“The security industry still has many central stations that are monitoring alarm accounts over PSTN lines and we recognised the value of enhancing the SG-System 5 to support this method of communication”, said Dwayne Salsman, Senior Product Manager, Tyco Security Products. “This upgrade, along with the accompanying enhancements, enable central station operators and integrators the opportunity to provide their customers with technology-leading alarm monitoring capabilities.”

Split Reporting

Split Reporting allows central stations to use both CPMs simultaneously to split the data traffic over two paths

Also new to SG-System 5 is the addition of Split Reporting, which allows central stations to use both CPMs simultaneously to split the data traffic over two paths to prevent overloading the stations automation software. In addition, Multi-port Automation allows users to expand up to four automation outputs per CPM (eight total per receiver) to distribute alarm events to multiple automation software connections to seamlessly handle the SG-System 5s 1.5 million account capability without issue.

With the Logging Port, central stations can replicate the receivers automation output to integrate with a variety of 3rdparty applications without the requirement of signal acknowledgement. This capability is available through the purchase of an additional license.

Integration with SureView Systems Immix

A recent new feature of SG-System 5 receiver is its integration with Immix®, which is SureView Systems' video centric software platform. When paired with Immix®, the SG-System 5 can output alarm events, including visual verification alarms received from PowerSeries Neo systems, into a variety of different automation solution providers for a common user interface across multiple video solution providers.

Immix® is UL Certified in the United States and BS8418 compliant in Europe. It consolidates a wide range of different security products into one simple operator interface dramatically improving the efficiency of central alarm monitoring stations offering next generation video monitoring services.
