The Security Industry Association (SIA) has announced the addition of the Twin Cities in Motion (TCM) race management team to the speaker lineup for AcceleRISE – a new conference for tomorrow’s security leaders featuring top-quality idea sharing, coaching, business skills development, networking and inspiration. In a dynamic panel session, TCM will shed light on the changes that took place in the U.S. running community after the Boston Marathon bombings and provide insights on the complex nature of securing a 26.2-mile road race.

AcceleRISE 2019 will be held August 14-16 at the Radisson Blu Minneapolis Downtown in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The conference – hosted by SIA’s RISE community for young professionals and those new to the security industry – will present blended learning sessions featuring a mix of keynotes, panel sessions, team building exercises, peer networking and workshops.

Leveraging technology in securing events

The TCM event management team has been instrumental in creating safety and security best practices for running industrySince 1982, TCM has been responsible for organising the annual Medtronic Twin Cities Marathon, a top 10 U.S. marathon, and other premier racing events. In the AcceleRISE session From Start to Finish: Leveraging Technology and Teamwork, TCM’s executive director, Virginia Brophy Achman, its director of operations, Terry Ryan, and its senior manager of contract event services, Ed Whetham, will highlight the importance of leveraging technology and teamwork in securing an iconic event for the cities of Minneapolis and Saint Paul, Minnesota.

Running and endurance events attract annual participation from millions of runners and athletes at every level. These mass participatory events draw even larger numbers of spectators, making safety and security a top priority for race organisers, public safety agencies and host communities. The TCM event management team has been instrumental in creating safety and security best practices for the running industry and continues to be a leader on this front.
