The Connected Security Expo @ ISC West, sponsored by SIA, announced its Conference Advisory Board, which is working side by side with Show Management to create unique and timely content for the event’s first edition slated to take place in April.
Connected Security Expo is a conference led event, taking place alongside of ISC West (April 6-8, 2016 at the Sands Expo in Las Vegas). It’s the only industry event that focuses on building a holistic security strategy for the connected enterprise, including looking at how physical and information security can be used together to mitigate new and emerging cyber threats in a hyper-connected world.
Participating in the Connected Security Expo Education Advisory Board are:
- Jeremy Brecher, VP Technology, Electronic Security at Diebold, Inc. Mr. Brecher led Diebold Enterprise Security's US operations and information technology group. He managed numerous large-scale national and global electronic security system conversions and new deployments for Fortune 500 companies in a variety of environments, including construction, transportation, and commercial. Jeremy is the Chair of the SIA Cloud, Mobility and IoT Subcommittee, which explores the impact of the Cloud and mobility on Physical Security and focuses on developing Cloud and mobility standards for the industry. Candidate areas for standardisation include a cloud security reference model, and a common Cloud session establishment framework for physical security products.
- Ed Adams, President and CEO of Security Innovation. Mr. Adams is a Ponemon Institute Fellow and founded the Application Security Industry Consortium, Inc. (AppSIC), a non-profit association of industry analysts, enterprise technologists, and security leaders established to define cross-industry application security metrics and best practices that eventually morphed into SAFECode. Ed is also involved in other industry initiatives, including OWASP. He is on the board of the National Association of Information Security Groups (NAISG), and the International Secure Software Engineering Council (ISSECO). In February of 2014, Ed was named a Privacy by Design Ambassador, which is a group of privacy thought-leaders committed to ensuring the ongoing protection of personal information by following the Principles of PbD.

- Herb Kelsey, Chief Architect Guardtime. Mr. Kelsey has provided engineering support for enterprise architectures in commercial and government markets for more than 20 years. Becoming IBM’s Deputy CTO for cyber security in 2008, he advised the Executive and Legislative branches of the U.S. government on security matters, developed a secure cloud computing environment for the Air Force Cyber Command and helped shape the security approach for the IBM’s Smarter Planet initiative. Prior to 2001, Herb was engaged widely in multiple commercial industries such as banking, automotive and information technology. After 9/11, as an IBM executive consultant, he worked on DoD and Intelligence Community infrastructure transformations; notably, serving two years as Chief Architect for a DoD agency’s Lead System Integrator, overseeing the budget, design and engineering execution of over 40 programmes of record.
- Godfrey Chua, Principle Analyst at Machina Research. Mr. Chua brings over 15 years of experience and has worked extensively with network vendors, service providers, financial institutions, government agencies and solution developers in the communications and IoT space. His research examines the key aspects defining a successful strategy in M2M. He also pays particular attention to emerging business models and the ecosystems evolving in the Industrial Internet and Consumer IoT segments. Prior to joining Machina Research, Godfrey managed and helped launch the M2M and the Internet of Things programme at Infonetics Research. Previous to this, he was a member of the Advanced Technologies team at Juniper Networks where he focused on mobile solutions, M2M, and next-generation mobile core technologies go-to-market efforts, including performing market analysis for M2M and next-gen mobile business models.
