15 companies are in the final round for the Security Innovation Award 2016 |
There are still around two months until the 22nd edition of the world’s premier fair for security and fire prevention. However, the finalists for the Security Innovation Award have already been nominated. Out of 84 applications, the expert jury chose 15 companies to advance into the next round. Now, they are entering the decisive phase of the prize which is known as the sector’s Oscar.
For the fifth time, the recognised mark of distinction will be conferred by Messe Essen. Every two years, it distinguishes outstanding performances in the Technology & Products, Services and Fire Protection categories. The jury will confer the mark of distinction in Gold, Silver and Bronze.
Attention on technical finesse & people
The 15 top candidates have overcome the first obstacle: In the final round, the remaining companies will present their products and services live in front of an expert jury. Experts in the security sector will assess the innovations in both material and ideal dimensions. Because not only technical finesse and the innovative impetus count for the Security Innovation Award. Additional decisive factors are how easy the submission is to handle and what positive effects for people and society follow from the introduced performance.
Expert jury with new chairman
In 2016, the jury will confer the award under new leadership for the first time. Hermann Feuerlein who was the former Vice-Chairman of the Federal Association of Independent German Security Consultants and Engineers (BdSI) and has accompanied the Security Innovation Award with his expertise since the premiere in 2008 is being succeeded by Jens Washausen. As an expert for global travel security, the Member of the Board of BdSI can look back on many years of experience in the security sector. Together with the other members, the jury is continuing to unite the specialist competence of the entire sector within it.
Number of applications
As a result of the numerous top-class applications, the pre-selection turned out to be extremely difficult for the jury. With 59 applications, the Technology & Products category accounted for most applications, followed by the Fire Protection and Security Services categories.
The winners of the Security Innovation Award will be chosen on August 29. The presentation ceremony will take place in a festive setting on the first day of the Security Essen fair (September 27).
