OnSSI will introduce the latest enhancements to its industry leading Ocularis Video Management System (VMS) at ISC West 2017.

Ocularis (v5.3) further improves the user experience and addresses the industry’s growing demands for intelligence in the field with a new mobile app that provides comprehensive alert and event processing, the ability to stream live video from an Android smartphone, and the ability to track mobile operators’ physical locations using GPS mapping.

Ocularis new features

Additional new features include a scalable web app, Client bandwidth optimisation, expanded wide angle image dewarping support, additional Smart Camera Drivers and Windows Server 2016 support.

“As the security industry continues to become more sophisticated and complex, VMS mobility, functionality and performance needs to stay two steps ahead,” said Ken LaMarca, VP of Sales & Marketing, OnSSI. “This latest release of Ocularis makes new advanced security and network functionality available to new and legacy users and further enriches Ocularis’ responsive and intuitive user interface.”

Enhancements to Ocularis

The new Ocularis 5 Mobile provides comprehensive alert and event processing from the field. Additionally, the powerful new mobile app provides the ability to stream live video from an Android smartphone to Ocularis, as well as pinpoint and track mobile operators’ physical locations using GPS mapping features. This gives security personnel in the field the ability to upload live video directly from their smartphone as events are unfolding. Ocularis 5 Mobile is available on the Google Play and Apple App stores and is optimised for 3G and 4G networks.

Any Ocularis alerts and/or events are automatically streamed to the Ocularis 5 Web interface so they can be viewed and sorted, by priority

Ocularis 5 Web allows for the viewing of multiple live and recorded camera streams, simultaneously, with enhanced PTZ camera control, on an improved and intuitive user interface. By implementation of automatic bandwidth optimisation, individual video streams can be remotely controlled by systems administrators to ensure there is sufficient bandwidth available even if pulling video from a remote location over broadband. Any Ocularis alerts and/or events are automatically streamed to the Ocularis 5 Web interface so they can be viewed and sorted, by priority.

Smart Camera Drivers

The latest release of Ocularis also includes new Smart Camera Drivers for Bosch and FLIR cameras, an updated Smart Camera Driver for Axis and Hikvision to easily add new cameras, and expanded dewarping support for wide angle images. Also included is a 64-bit version of every Ocularis component: Client, Administrator, Event Proxy, Base, Recorder and Media Server.

OnSSI will continue to add new features and functionality in upcoming releases of Ocularis. Two features slated for introduction in coming months include support for H.265 compression which will further reduce the video recording bit rate and storage demands of today’s higher resolution cameras, and two-way audio which will enable system operators to listen to and communicate with individuals in view of the camera.

Ocularis at ISC West

“These new features, which we will be introducing shortly, will further enhance the performance and practical utility of Ocularis,” said Mr. LaMarca. “Visitors to OnSSI’s booth (#13074) can experience the latest functionality and benefits of Ocularis first-hand as the product is displayed to its full functionality”.

Ocularis is offered in three models: Professional, designed for organisations operating multiple locations with small to mid-sized camera counts; Enterprise, built for a wide range of mid to large IT-centric organisations; and Ultimate, created for large organisations with extended command and control needs and recording server failover.
