Toshiba Surveillance & IP Video Products Group, a business unit of Toshiba America Information Systems, Inc., is helping security professionals cost-effectively replace outdated analog CCTV cameras with state-of-the-art IP network video by introducing the new IK-WD04A, a 720p HD mini-dome camera that combines superior value and performance. Available immediately, it is well-suited for high-definition (1280 x 800) indoor monitoring of retail shops, public spaces and businesses.

Toshiba IP products are recognised industry-wide as best-in-class for performance, reliability and an extensive feature set. The IK-WD04A continues that tradition with important advantages not found in other domes in its price range, such as a wide dynamic range to correct images in challenging backlight situations, an SD card slot to record images locally, and a Varifocal 3mm-12mm lens that allows technicians to adjust aperture on the fly, leaving no room for error. The lens provides generous 4x optical and 4x digital zoom capabilities on top of 24° - 61° horizontal and 15° - 38° vertical angles. Other image enhancements include Back Light Compensation, Auto Gain, Day/Night imaging (colour cut), and an 1/5 - 1/32000 sec. electric shutter.

LESS NETWORK TRAFFIC

To optimise critical bandwidth and storage space without compromising image quality, the IK-WD04A incorporates efficient H.264 compression, along with the added convenience of MPEG4 and MJPEG codecs. Various resolution/frame rate options, combined with the H.264 compression, help to reduce video files by as much as 90%, resulting in significantly less network traffic. Quad-streaming of real-time video is also possible at a maximum of 30 fps. As many as ten authorised users can remotely access live or recorded video simultaneously.

SIMPLE INSTALLATION

There is no need to mount the IK-WD04A near a power source since power and data are received through a single Ethernet cable using PoE technology. In addition, the camera can be powered direct by 12V DC.

The camera's compact footprint (3.15" (H) x 4.33" (D)) and off-white housing blends into virtually any environment.
