Nedap uPASS Target ensures seamless integration with any existing or new third party system for access control, logistic operations, security and parking
uPASS Target identifies vehicles and drivers at distance of up to 10 metres by using passive UHF RFID technology

Nedap, global leader in automatic vehicle identification and parking detection technology, launches the uPASS Target. This high-end RFID reader offers long-range identification using the Rain RFID (UHF EPC Gen II) Standard. With the uPASS Target, Nedap further expands its leading UHF platform for long-range vehicle and people identification. During the Intersec exhibition in Dubai, from 17th – 19th January, the uPASS Target will be demonstrated to the market.

The introduction of the uPASS Target is Nedap’s reply to the growing demand for high performance UHF readers in applications where vehicles and other moving objects should be identified automatically using passive RFID tags. The new UHF RFID reader offers a read range of up to 10 metres (33 ft.) which makes it a solid solution for long-range identification of vehicles, people and rolling stock at industrial sites and logistic depots.

Modern and high-end RFID reader

“We have promised our partners and clients that we would actively support the Rain RFID (UHF) standard and that we would maintain our position as a market leading innovator in the RFID arena. This new release is proof of that. The uPASS Target offers the performance and functionality that our clients can expect from a modern and high-end RFID reader, but it also is compatible with the interfacing engine that is available for all our readers. This makes it effortless to integrate with the access control, parking management and other systems of our partners”, says Maarten Mijwaart, General Manager of Nedap Identification Systems.

Advanced features

The uPASS Target identifies vehicles and drivers at a distance of up to 10 metres (33 ft.) and a travelling speed of up to 200 km/h (125 mph) by using passive UHF RFID technology (±900 MHz). Standard features include configurable 3 colour LED indication, robust housing with modern design, support of common industry interfacing standards (IP, Serial, Wiegand), optional connection of second external antenna, read range limitation option, reader output formatting and easy installation. The circular polarised antenna offers orientation freedom when offering tags.

The uPASS Target offers a variety of industry-standard communication interfaces. It ensures a seamless integration with any existing or new third party system for access control, logistic operations, security and parking.

Nedap will demonstrate its new high-end reader during Intersec Dubai (17-19 January) at booth S1-D25.
