To safeguard the wellbeing of its participants in the wake of the recent Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, Messe Frankfurt has announced the deferral of the upcoming edition of Secutech in Taipei, the company’s event for the safety and security industry. The event was originally scheduled from 22 - 24 April 2020.

The announcement follows a decision on 30 January 2020 by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to list the COVID-19 outbreak as a Public Health Emergency of International Concern. This was followed on 11 February with a statement issued by Mayor, New Taipei City, Hou You-Yi, urging the cancellation of large-scale indoor events in order to minimise the public health risk posed by COVID-19.

Rescheduling of high-profile exhibitions

In the intervening time, a number of high-profile exhibitions in Nangang Exhibition Centre and other parts of Taipei have been rescheduled.

Secutech’s brand of popular road-shows will take place across Taiwan during 2020

Commenting on the decision, Ms Regina Tsai, General Manager, Messe Frankfurt New Era Business Media Ltd said, “Safeguarding the wellbeing of our stakeholders is always our top priority. Accordingly, we have decided to take appropriate measures to support the local government’s efforts to counter the COVID-19 outbreak.”

We have tried our best to find new dates for Secutech 2020, however we have so far been unable to find an adequate solution for our stakeholders.”

Secutech deferred to April 2021

“Although a timeslot for relocating Secutech in the second half of 2020 is available, given its close proximity to the next edition of Secutech, and the marketing activities of our exhibitors already scheduled later this year, this timeslot does not provide good value for our stakeholders. Therefore we have to defer the show to April 2021.”

To ensure that domestic business can be sustained throughout this period, Secutech’s brand of popular road-shows will take place across Taiwan during 2020, with dates to be announced in due course. Furthermore, Messe Frankfurt New Era will continue its extensive on-line marketing campaigns to help Secutech exhibitors maximise their market exposure for the remainder of the year.
