Maritime Surveillance and Reconnaissance Technology 2016 will take place in Rome, Italy on the 15th – 16th February 2016. This conference will focus on maximising maritime situational awareness capabilities for security of life and territory at sea.

Search and Rescue, Military and Law Enforcement agencies need to be able to monitor their coastlines and economic exclusive zones effectively in order to keep their borders and those who use the seas legitimately, safe. Many nations are currently seeking to upgrade and develop those platforms that serve them in the Maritime Domain, from Patrol Planes and Helicopters to Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and Satellites.

Lieutenant Commander Sam Edwards will deliver an address on ‘How the US Coast Guard is Leveraging Automatic Identification System (AIS) to Improve Maritime Domain Awareness’. The presentation will focus on: leveraging U.S Coast Guard’s Nationwide AIS system to provide maritime domain awareness to other U.S Government agencies; progress with transmitting Maritime Safety Information to the public and government agencies and applications of AIS messaging to confront challenges in the Western Hemisphere, Arctic region and beyond.
