The new Connected Security Expo debuts at ISC West 2016 |
Within a few minutes of this morning’s Grand Opening ceremony, sponsored by Allegion, ISC West sponsored by SIA, the Show floor was quickly flooded and buzzing with activity as attendees made their way through the aisles to find the most advanced, state-of-the-art technologies from the largest and most innovative vendors.
Spirit of partnership in security industry
The day continued to flourish with attendees filling the aisles with heavy traffic and having meaningful dialogue about products, technology and the industry in general, which continued right up until the show floor closed at 5 p.m.
“The first day of ISC West was great. As you walk around the show and talk to the various suppliers, there’s a real spirit of partnership that’s come through in almost every booth we’ve stopped in,” said Nathan Agar, Vice President, Physical Security, Diebold. “There have also been a lot of people who have stopped by our booth looking to see how we might be able to partner. I think that has been eye-opening and it’s a pretty powerful demonstration of the value of this show.”
Second day: SIA Education@ISC
Recently was the second day of SIA Education@ISC, which featured the Signature Series session “Lights! Camera! Action! How Paramount Pictures Delivers Enhanced Safety and Global Security While Driving Operational Efficiency and Sustainable ROI.” The three Paramount security and IT professionals who spoke discussed how the studio revamped its security operations to accommodate global growth and locations beyond its Hollywood lot. They also provided attendees with valuable tips for evaluating and deploying PSIM solutions. The session was greeted with a standing room only crowd.
The Best New Product Award in the SIA New Product Showcase (NPS) went to Lynx TFG Ltd. for its TIGER Mobile App. The app transforms a smartphone into a powerful body-worn camera, providing a single platform for real-time video transmission, local storage and network relay station for connecting external cameras.
Connected Security Expo
The new Connected Security Expo@ISC West made its debut recently and saw steady traffic for the exhibitors and presentations, which are located in the Level 2 Lobby outside the main show floor entrance. The first of the Connected Security Expo’s two keynote addresses took place this morning, with the panel providing valuable insight into the vulnerabilities derived from the Internet of Things, and the need of enterprise IT teams to converge to understand when their environments have been tampered with to quickly restore breaches.
“As evidenced by this year’s inaugural Connected Security Expo@ISC West, the physical security community is undergoing a transformational shift. As connected devices become more integrated into site operation, the risk of cyber threat on the asset increases. Education and awareness are key activities at this year’s conference, specifically, understanding the role and responsibilities the physical security companies play with respect to the cyber posture of the assets they install into,” said Nate Kube, Chief Technology Officer and Founder of Wurldtech, a GE Company.
Tomorrow ISC West begins bright and early with the annual Security 5K Run/2K Walk with participants running and walking to raise funds for Mission 500, a non-profit organisation dedicated to serving the needs of children and communities in crisis. The Day 2 Connected Security Expo keynote, titled “The Future of Cyber Security” from 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in Room 601. It will also be the final day of the lauded SIA Education@ISC series, featuring topics covering almost every aspect of security and safety.
Attendees accessing ISC West info via the Official ISC West Mobile App have found the Show especially easy to navigate. Show management continues to encourage those who have not downloaded the app to do so.
