IPVideo Corporation, a manufacturer of IP-based video surveillance and command centre solutions, has announced that it has been selected by the San Jose Police Department (SJPD) to help improve and upgrade their current interview recording platform.

AVfusion solution for police interview rooms

The SJPD implemented IPVideo Corporation’s AVfusion solution, which is an easy-to-use network-based audio/video recording system designed for police interview rooms where recording frame-by-frame, synchronised audio and HD video is critical. The system allows law enforcement professionals to quickly search and retrieve recordings in one simple process – all from a secure desktop computer.

With over one million people to keep safe, the SJPD employs over 970 sworn officers along with many civilian personnel. The department is administered by a command staff that includes the Chief, Assistant Chief, and 4 Deputy Chiefs, presiding over an Operations Command Center with 4 Bureaus comprised of 11 divisions with more than 50 specialised Units and Assignments. The Bureau of Investigations is divided into 4 primary groups – gangs, sexual assault, robbery, and homicide with 6 interview rooms in the department headquarters that consists of 45 detectives that conduct interviews from within these primary groups.

Upgrade to new HD recording platform

With an older, analogue interview recording system in place, the SJPD wanted to upgrade to a new recording platform that would utilise HD camera technology and provide more flexibility with officers having the ability to access recorded interviews on workstations throughout the facility over the network, while maintaining viewing capabilities in a command type room.

"Our officers enjoy being able to queue rooms in advance helping to streamline the overall recording process"

“We are really pleased that we found AVfusion which allows us to record all of our rooms simultaneously and in HD quality,” states SJPD Lieutenant Paul Spagnoli. “Our officers enjoy being able to queue rooms in advance helping to streamline the overall recording process and look forward to more of the features that IPVideo Corporation will be releasing in the future.”

IPVideo Corporation is an industry pioneer in network-based surveillance recording solutions and continues to be on the forefront of developing unique, innovative solutions that harness the power of IP video technology. “We offer a unique approach to network-based recording solutions that are tailored to meet the specific needs of police departments across the country,” states David Antar, President at IPVideo Corporation.
