Identiv, Inc. has announced the latest update to its award-winning Hirsch Velocity Software for access control and security management. The newest release adds enhanced communications protocols, government-grade biometric support, and new Velocity and Hirsch ScramblePad features to the integrated platform that manages access control and security operations in thousands of facilities around the world.

Multi-factor biometric devices

To provide full compliance with Federal Identity, Credential, and Access Management (FICAM) for Enterprise Physical Access Control System (EPACS) solutions, Velocity now supports Open Supervised Device Protocol (OSDP) communications between Identiv’s Hirsch Controllers, uTrust TS Government FICAM-enabled card readers, and Hirsch TS ScramblePads, providing advanced encryption options and the ability to download and update reader firmware from Velocity Software.

Identiv’s OSDP implementation allows Velocity to support key third-party authentication devices — like the Veridt Stealth Series multi-factor biometric devices — that combine card, personal identification number (PIN), fingerprint, and digital certificate validation for very strong identity authentication at critical doors.

More efficient security and facility management

In addition, the Velocity update includes feature enhancements requested by users and partners, including the ability to override normal system settings in emergency situations, expanded relay and device controls for more efficient security and facility management, and a more cost-effective way to control exit as well as entry at controlled doors.

“The latest update to Velocity delivers real value by leveraging new technology on a security management platform that is secure, interoperable, and sustainable,” said Mark Allen, Identiv General Manager, Physical Access. “Not only do our new customers get all of these features, but virtually every Hirsch customer for the last 20+ years can upgrade to this latest version and take advantage of our new features and new technology without sacrificing their existing investment.”

Identiv will demonstrate the latest version of Hirsch Velocity Software at ASIS 2017 on September 26 – 28, 2017 in Dallas, Texas. Velocity is available now through the worldwide network of Hirsch partners.
