HID Global, a provider of trusted identity solutions, today unveiled the latest in its Direct-to-Card (DTC) printer/encoder line, bringing new convenience and security features to its proven entry-level offering while further reducing ID card printing expenses for cost-conscious organisations. The company demonstrates the DTC1500 printer/encoder at GITEX 2017, October 8-12.

By adding high-capacity consumables, new security features and enhanced capabilities, our latest printer/encoder enables organisations to issue counterfeit-resistant cards and IDs at a fraction of the cost of comparable alternative solutions, without sacrificing quality,” said Craig Sandness, Vice President and Managing Director, Secure Issuance business with HID Global.

Unique data protection

The DTC1500 printer/encoder delivers the most popular features of our desktop-based line and is ideal for government ID projects, universities, colleges, primary and secondary education, healthcare facilities and small-to-medium businesses.”

A unique data protection feature makes information printed within the resin panel unreadable

The DTC1500 printer/encoder’s standard, built-in security features include a new custom watermark capability for applying transparent logos, symbols, text and other permanent security images within the overlay panel. Virtually impossible to duplicate, the watermarks increase card security without requiring an investment in holographic overlaminates or foil cards. A unique data protection feature makes information printed within the resin panel unreadable, and additional security is available through standard password protection and AES 256 data encryption.

Scalable design

Also new to the DTC1500 printer/encoder are low-cost, high-capacity full and half-panel color ribbons that significantly reduce cost-per-card and total cost of ownership without diminishing quality. The DTC1500 prints dark, crisply defined text and barcodes using a new resin threshold feature that enables users to manually set and adjust precisely when the resin K panel is employed based on color concentration.

HID Global’s latest printer/encoder features a modular, scalable design that simplifies in-field equipment upgrades and migration to higher levels of security. A new built-in dual-side printing feature can be activated with an RFID tag any time after purchase, and optional lamination or encoding modules can also be added when needed. All DTC1500 units are GreenCircle Certified for efficient energy consumption and eco-friendly (ECO) refill ribbons.
