Global MSC Security has recognised David White’s illustrious 50-year career in policing and the security industry, with the presentation of the 2022 Gordon McLanaghan Award for Security Innovation.

The highly respected Consultant, Tutor and former Police Officer, was presented with a piece of Bristol Blue glassware, by the Managing Director of Global MSC Security, Derek Maltby, upon his retirement earlier this month.

Gordon McLanaghan Award

The Gordon McLanaghan Award is presented annually, by Global MSC Security, in honour and memory of Gordon McLanaghan, an Innovator within the Bristol City Council CCTV and Emergency Control Centre, who sadly passed away in 2014. The award recognises the outstanding contribution of an individual or organisation to security innovation and excellence.

David White began his career as a Police Officer, serving for 32 years. From 1997, he was the CCTV Lead for Thames Valley Police and in 2004 he brought this experience and expertise to the security industry, working as a Global MSC Security Consultant, as well as a Senior Tutor for Tavcom Training for 15 years.

Long-standing relationship with Global MSC Security

David White has generously shared his insight into control room management and operations

David White's relationship with Global MSC Security started 17 years ago, while he was working on a project for the government in Barbados. Since then, David White has generously shared his insight into control room management and operations, as well as good governance of surveillance camera systems with Global MSC Security clients.

David White comments on his career with Global MSC Security, “Reflecting upon my career in the security industry I am especially proud of helping control room managers to ensure the practical but effective governance and operational standards of their CCTV systems. Secondly, and most important to me, has been the opportunity to teach and empower security professionals, at all levels, seeing them develop and flourish in the industry.

Played a key role to improve public space CCTV surveillance

The Managing Director of Global MSC Security, Derek Maltby, comments “David has made a truly outstanding contribution to policing and the security industry, and while his retirement is well deserved, he will be sorely missed.

Derek Maltby adds “The work he has done with Global MSC Security, to improve public space CCTV surveillance for Councils throughout the UK, making towns and cities safer places for citizens and businesses, will stand the test of time. I am proud to present the Gordon McLanaghan Award to an exceptional colleague and friend.”
