Copyright(c) Ministry of Foreign Affairs of JapanThe 34th G8 summit which took place in Toyako on the northern Island of Hokkaido, Japan from July 7 - 9, 2008, brought together heads of the world's most wealthiest and most industrialised countries such as France, Germany, Italy, Japan, UK, USA, Canada and Russia.

The G8 summit is a forum for these countries to discuss issues of a worldwide concern and negotiation of topics such as climate change, intellectual property rights, political issues, world economy and food shortages.

Forming part of a bespoke and integrated software and audio-visual communication and interpretation system, JVC's TK-C686E PTZ security dome cameras were responsible for the core monitoring of talks between G8 representatives.

In this application, the TK-C686E PTZ dome cameras used a reverse monitoring mode and were positioned upside down and in full view of delegate's faces.  The cameras use a 36x zoom, and quick, silent and accurate direct drive motor allowing the cameras to pan and zoom in on delegates during talks and produced high-quality and outstanding resolution images for translation and communication interpretation.

JVC's TK-C686E series dome camera"We're justifiably proud that our top-of-the-range PTZ dome CCTV cameras have been used in this unique way.  It clearly demonstrates the flexibility of the camera for all kinds of image-critical uses," says Yash Patel, Executive Director, CCTV Europe at JVC Professional Europe Ltd

JVC Professional Europe Ltd is a wholly owned subsidiary of Victor Company of Japan Limited and is one of the world's leading manufacturers and suppliers of video and data-related products.
