Shaktiware provide smart solutions for vehicle flow management

Teamed with Shaktiware’s ANPR software, LILIN’s HD Sense Up+ cameras deliver number plate recognition across 30 lanes. LILIN, IP video experts, have recently worked with Shaktiware and their software to develop an effective number plate recognition solution.

Established in 2000, Shaktiware are a French company who provide smart solutions for vehicle flow management. They specialise in operations including terminals, logistic sites, transport areas and ports. Shaktiware’s technology is based on a central server addressing exploitation demands such as locating and tracking vehicles within the site, managing site access and overseeing parking. The software also uses video sensors to identify the placing of vehicles.

One of the most sought after requirements of IP video users today is ANPR (Auto Number Plate Recognition), but in reality, it is extremely difficult to achieve. This is down to a number of factors, namely reflection, and motion blur in low light settings.

Traditionally, frame integration technology has been used to improve the low light performance of cameras, but motion blur is a common problem in areas with movement. LILIN’s unique technology works to eradicate these issues and has proven successful in an application in France. Sense Up+ is a feature that incorporates an advanced system of light optimisation, producing superb low light images in colour or mono without motion blur. It utilises intelligent image signal processing with a highly sensitive CMOS sensor, AGC control and 3D noise reduction to provide the ultimate low light image.

Shaktiware were intrigued by the technologies incorporated within LILIN’s latest IP product range

Shaktiware had cameras in place used to deploy their number plate recognition software, but were intrigued by the technologies incorporated within LILIN’s latest IP product range. They started the project with specific requirements; the camera needed to be a HD IP camera, with good sensitivity and integrated IR, which would be able to capture plates in two adjacent lanes. Having been recommended a HD IP 1080P camera capable of recording at 30FPS, Shaktiware tested the LILIN camera and examined the differences. Once installed, the level of viewing dramatically improved. The software and LILIN cameras fit with Sense Up+ technology have now been installed at bus stations in France, resulting in crystal clear viewing across 30 lanes.

The information collected by the software and cameras provides security information about where particular buses are parked, assists in updating customer information and provides accurate bus timetables for users.

Thomas Clement, Shaktiware’s technical director stated, “we found staff at LILIN were very responsive and provided skilled support throughout the project.” The system is now fully installed and Shaktiware are very impressed with the quality of video constantly delivered. The combination of the Shaktiware software and LILIN’s cameras has proved to provide an effective ANPR solution.
