Receiving Florida Department of Transportation's approval validates advanced performance of Moxa's EDS switches
FDOT's approval validates the performance of Moxa's EDS switches to handle video streams over long distances

Moxa, a leading manufacturing of networking products for intelligent transportation and traffic management, announced recently that the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) has added its EDS managed field Ethernet switches to the state's Approved Product List (APL), following extensive site performance reviews and environmental testing.

By adding the EDS Series to its APL, the FDOT has approved its use for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) on the streets and highways of Florida. Known nationwide for stringent quality standards, districts in Florida must adhere to the FDOT APL for all purchasing decisions.

"Moxa equipment has a proven track record of success across the US and in countries where ITS has been deployed," said Todd J. Desso, Strategic Business Manager for Moxa. "Receiving the Florida Department of Transportation's approval validates the advanced performance of Moxa's EDS switches to handle video, audio, and traffic data streams over long distances and in extreme weather conditions.”

With EDS Series Ethernet switches, the state of Florida and its counties, cities and departments can improve the efficiency and safety of the transportation infrastructure, including signal control systems, electronic toll collection, advanced parking systems, automatic vehicle identification, and video surveillance systems. The modular design of EDS switches provides various combinations of copper and fiber connections for different network configurations to IP phones, IP cameras, and signal controllers at traffic sites. Its compact size is ideal for installation in existing roadside cabinets with limited space, leaving room for additional equipment. In addition, the wide operating temperature range of -40° to 167º F is especially suited for roadside cabinets in harsh outdoor environments.
