Industrial operators using commercial-grade wireless devices for media-rich, mission-critical wireless applications may be getting satisfactory wireless network service, but frequent maintenance and system downtime can add up to a high total cost of ownership.

Moxa, a leader in embedded computing solutions, is addressing this issue with its new AWK-5232 Industrial a/b/g/n Wireless AP/Bridge/Client that delivers high-speed wireless connectivity with up to 300 Mbps data rate, along with superior reliability, seamless deployment and plug-and-play scalability that reduce the costs of networking by eliminating the need to purchase and manage multiple pieces of equipment.

Purpose engineered for industrial environments, it the perfect drop-in solution for hard-to-wire deployments and for virtually any type of mobile device connected over a TCP/IP network since it supports not only 802.11n wireless connectivity but legacy a/b/g equipment. Integrated WEP/WPA/WPA2/802.11X security and powerful filters prevent unauthorised access to the network.

"The AWK-5232 provides a faster connection and wider range than commercial-grade 802.11g models, especially at longer distances where users will experience a stronger connection," said Ariana Drivdahl, Product Marketing Manager for Moxa's Industrial Wireless division. "By reducing network downtime through its rugged design, it can significantly improve the overall profitability of a manufacturing, processing or other industrial operation even in high densities of mobile devices."

Leveraging two independent RF modules (2.4 GHz and/or 5GHz), the AWK-5232 supports an extensive variety of wireless configurations and applications, while its redundant connections ensures consistently high reliability across the entire wireless network. The end result is a truly wireless enterprise.

The AWK-5232 is compliant with the essential sections of EN 50155 covering an extended operating temperature range, power input voltage, surge, ESD and vibration. Its redundant dual DC power inputs increase power supply reliability. In addition, it can be powered via PoE+ for easier deployment.
