ASSA ABLOY Security Doors manufactures and installs steel and timber doors in a range of performance options, including security, fire resistant, vandal resistant, acoustic and external
The 700 heavy-duty doors are fire, acoustic and blast-rated

The owner and developer of Canary Wharf, one of London’s most iconic business districts, purchased more than 700 steel door sets from ASSA ABLOY Security Doors for its 23-storey office building at 25 Churchill Place.

Previously derelict docklands, London’s Canary Wharf is now 15 million square feet of prime office, retail and leisure space, thanks to the efforts of property development, investment and management company Canary Wharf Group.

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors designed, manufactured and installed the steel doors for Canary Wharf Group’s office building. The heavy-duty doors are fire, acoustic and blast-rated, with electro hydraulic door automatics to cope with the heavy traffic expected in prime London office space.

In adherence with fire safety requirements, roller-shutter doors were installed to provide additional security after business hours. ASSA ABLOY’s solution included bespoke steel doors with a flush astragal profile on all main access routes. Less vulnerable to attack, the flush astragal profile increases efficiency and safety by restricting the passage of heat and smoke between the various areas of the building.

Chris Cole, Area Sales Manager for ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, says: “it was a privilege to work on such a prestigious project.”

“Every specification had to be made with fire safety and building efficiency in mind, and on such a large scale this was no mean feat,” Cole says. Tailored ASSA ABLOY Security Doors ensure that the product will suit what will be an extremely high-traffic office space. The flush astragal featuring on many of the door sets demonstrates how the in-house design team at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors can help specifiers and architects work effectively with our high security steel doors, and shows how comprehensive the range really is.”

Designed to withstand abuse from anything ranging from simple hand tools to power tools, ASSA ABLOY Security Doors are tested in accordance with the LPS 1175 loss prevention standard. Fire doors are certified in accordance with BS 476: Part 22: 1987 and BS EN 1634-1: 2000.
