Assa Abloy’s participation in the Maricopa Heat Relief Network sheds light on water management
ASSA ABLOY Phoenix organised a company-wide water donation challenge during the month of July

ASSA ABLOY Phoenix is urging fellow local businesses to get involved in the Maricopa Association of Government’s Heat Relief Network in downtown Phoenix. Local organisations that have joined the Heat Relief Network are helping provide hydration, refuge and wellness checks for homeless, elderly and people with disabilities during extreme hot weather. With temperatures consistently exceeding 110 degrees, bottled water at Hydration Stations and local shelters is crucial part of saving lives.

Bottled water collection

Answering the call for help, the Sustainability Committee within ASSA ABLOY Phoenix organised a company-wide water donation challenge during the month of July, and is now encouraging other businesses to get involved. Striving to make a difference, all 265 employees within the group donated more than 15,000 bottles of drinking water to the network.

“It’s very humbling to see the outpouring of generosity from our employees. When asked to help those in need, they really stepped up, exceeding every expectation,” said Paul Hodges, Vice President of Operations, ASSA ABLOY EMS & OEM. “And although our water drive was for the homeless here in Phoenix, all of our water may or may not soon be in jeopardy. The recent accidental release of three million gallons of waste and sludge from the Gold King Mine into the Animas River makes our participation in bringing light to the management of this most precious resource even more urgent.”

To date, the city has received 269,088 bottles of water, and only has 44,496 remaining to give to its outreach teams.
