ASSA ABLOY Security Doors accommodates many options within the bespoke design process implemented between its expert draughtsmen and its customers; plain meeting stiles are a popular specification.

Creating a neat and streamlined finish, plain meeting stile doorsets are designed to naturally meet in the middle, eliminating the need for astragal profile, door selector and latching hardware.

As well as addressing aesthetic considerations, plain meeting stiles are suitable for use in cleanroom applications, creating a smooth and hygienic surface, preventing the collection of dirt and inhibiting bacteria growth.

In addition, with no need for an astragal moulding profile, double-leaf doorsets are able to swing in both directions; ideal for applications with a high traffic flow, or where the need to move freely between areas of the building with particular urgency, such as an Accident and Emergency ward corridor.

Chris Cole, Sales Area Manager for ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “Both practical and pleasing to the eye, there are many benefits to plain meeting stiles.

“It is also possible to design-in some additional functionalities to the doorset. For example, used in conjunction with an electromechanical door closer and linked to the building’s fire alarm system, plain meeting stiles can further accommodate convenient passage of the door whist satisfying essential fire safety requirements.”
