The doorsets are certified to LPS 1175 SR4, offering protection against attempts at forced entry with higher tool levels

The doorsets are designed to withstand abuse from simple hand tools, through to prolonged attacks with a range of power tools

ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, a UK division of ASSA ABLOY, the global leader in door opening solutions, has recently installed high security doors at the National Cycling Centre.

National Cycling Centre

Located in Sports City, Manchester, the National Cycling Centre is Britain’s first indoor cycling track and has become one of the world’s fastest board tracks. Regular users of the track include members of the Great Britain Cycling Team, as well as local schoolchildren and cycling enthusiasts.

The track is open seven days a week and is one of the busiest tracks in the world; therefore, access and security is paramount. ASSA ABLOY Security Doors installed four double leaf Powershield Strangford Steel Doors in the external perimeter walls of The Manchester Velodrome. The doorsets are certified to LPS 1175 SR4, offering protection against attempts at forced entry with higher tool levels, including sledgehammers and felling axes.

Provide high security and durable doors

Andrew Fisher, Area Sales Manager at ASSA ABLOY Security Doors, said: “It was great to be involved in such a prestigious project. The velodrome cycling track is regarded as one of the world’s finest and fastest board tracks, and consequently attracts a large number of visitors. We were able to provide high security and durable doors to the National Cycling Centre that will withstand the test of time, as well as minimising repair and maintenance bills.”

Jarl Walsh, Head of Operations, Eastlands Trust, said: “We were impressed with the knowledge and capability of the ASSA ABLOY Security Doors team, as well as the quality and aesthetics of the doorsets. We now have the peace of mind that we have doorsets in place that are designed to withstand abuse from simple hand tools, through to prolonged attacks with a range of power tools, in accordance with the standards of LPS1175.”
