Pringle of Scotland has introduced security systems which prevent crime without deterring shoppers.
Pringle of Scotland, is one of the oldest names in the Scottish Borders, the Birthplace of the British Knitwear industry, founded in 1815 by Robert Pringle, it became one of the fist luxury knitwear manufacturers in the world. In March 2000 a new chapter began for the company when it was bought by S.C. Fang & Sons and has since redeveloped and repositioned Pringle of Scotland as an International luxury fashion brand, with designs worn by stars such as Madonna, Guy Ritchie, Nicole Kidman and Ewan McGregor.
In the last five years, Pringle has taken its brand into catwalk shows in Milan, opened showrooms in key fashion markets in the world of luxury fashion and launched a retail division, opening flagship stores in Bond Street and Sloane Street in London, Terminal 3 at Heathrow Airport and Bluewater as well as a number of others stores across Asia.
With luxury clothing to protect, in-store security is of paramount importance to Pringle. Intrepid Security Solutions was contracted to introduce electronic security tagging and digital CCTV at all of Pringle’s flagship UK stores. CCTV cameras cover both the inside and outside of the stores and have helped Pringle keep shrinkage at a very low level.
Pringle’s in-store security systems are not only effective; they’re aesthetically pleasing, too. Given Pringle’s beautiful store interiors, Intrepid takes great care to implement security systems, which blend in with the décor.
CCTV provides Pringle with benefits besides security. The company analyses recorded footage from in-store surveillance cameras to monitor footfall and discover shopping trends.
Intrepid has supplied an access control system for Pringle’s Sloane Square site, which houses the company’s international office, as well as a store, a showroom and a stock room. Simon says: “People require different levels of access at different times of the day, so the movement of staff has to be controlled.”
Once Pringle secures a lease for a new store, the company moves quickly to fit out and open the store, which means Pringle requires a security supplier which can provide loss protection systems with efficiency.
“We’ve had a working relationship with Intrepid for over three years now and they’re our preferred security partner,” says Simon. “We regularly meet with Intrepid, who fully understand our requirements and the need for very good pre-planning when developing our sites. Also, they’re always willing to send engineers out to us to discuss an issue without a making a callout charge.”
