The CIPURSE open security standard addresses transit authorities’ need for future-proof fare collection systems
Ecebs will lend its vast experience in providing smart technology in transit systems
The Open Standard for Public Transport (OSPTTM) Alliance recently announced that Ecebs, a leading provider of solutions for smart cards, terminals, and back-office transit systems, has joined as its latest member. As a full member of the Alliance, Ecebs will lend its vast experience in providing smart technology in transit systems to promote new market opportunities for solutions based on the CIPURSE (TM) open security standard.

"This is an exciting time to be working in the global transit market which is adopting ever increasing smart technology. We are pleased to join the OSPT Alliance and support its efforts to develop open standards-based solutions," said Stephen McSpadden, solutions manager for Ecebs. "The CIPURSE open standard provides the advanced security capabilities needed for today and tomorrow's transit solutions, as well as the flexibility to deliver elegant, efficient products for global use. We believe the experience we have gained in this space at all levels-including cards, terminals, secure access modules (SAMs) and essential back office supporting systems-will enable us to leverage the benefits of CIPURSE in a timely manner."

The CIPURSE open security standard addresses transit authorities' need for future-proof fare collection systems with more advanced security than is currently in use. As an open standard, CIPURSE promotes vendor neutrality and cross-vendor system interoperability with reduced technology adoption risks, higher quality and improved market responsiveness-all of which result in lower operating costs and greater flexibility for transport system operators. CIPURSE also offers a global basis for rapidly migrating transit fare systems to NFC-enabled mobile phones and other devices, and the standard supports the adoption of NFC transit applications for a truly future-proof solution.

"We are delighted that Ecebs has joined the OSPT Alliance as a full member and will bring its existing expertise in open standards and smart technology to the table," said Laurent Cremer, executive director for the OSPT Alliance. "Ecebs' interest in CIPURSE and its experience in transit systems will be invaluable as we work together to define the next generation of ticketing, security and fare collection systems."

Based in Glasgow, Scotland, Ecebs is a smart technology company that delivers world-class solutions across a broad range of markets, including transport, local government, payment, and others. The company's software resides on smart cards, terminals, and back-office systems for many of today's solutions that support multi-application smartcards with maximum security, measurability and control.
