Downtown Jebel Ali, UAE
IDL's Fastlane Glassgate speedgates installed throughout the prestigious new Downtown Jebel Ali project in UAE
Fastlane Glassgate speedgates, from Integrated Design Ltd have been installed throughout the prestigious new Downtown Jebel Ali project in the UAE. Stretching for 11 km along Sheikh Zayed Road with 326 buildings the 200 hectare urban centre, commissioned by Limitless LLC (A Dubai World Company) already has international household names, including Ericsson, Kraft and L'Oreal setting up operations in the district.

Four recently completed towers in a commercial district of one of the distinct four quarters required a high level entrance control solution to secure pedestrian access at each of the premises. The aesthetics of the solution played a large part in the choice of the system with ultra-modern environments to compliment. Royaa Security Systems who were overseeing all security requirements demonstrated the Fastlane Glassgate system to Limitless who were impressed with the modern look and feel of the units, and the ease at which they integrated with the access control and fire alarm systems. The Fastlane Glassgate was integrated with the fire alarm system so that in an emergency the barriers automatically open in the exit direction to allow for free emergency egress.

A total of 24 lanes were installed by Royaa Security Systems with 6 lanes securing each of the 4 building's reception areas, creating a secure perimeter around the lift area. This coupled with the access control system restricts access to the upper floors to authorised users only.

Fastlane Glassgates have a glass barrier that operates in a friendly ‘door-like' motion which intelligently controls pedestrian traffic flow while maximising throughput, which in turn reduces the time it takes for staff and visitors to accept the system. A state-of-the-art IR detection matrix offers excellent protection against unauthorised entry and provides tailgate detection. Safety beams monitor the area near the barrier for increased safety. If an object is detected in the path of the barriers, they slow to a crawl until the obstruction is removed.

"We are very pleased to have been chosen to work on such a large scale landmark development as Down Town Jebel Ali. Many aspects can be stressful, getting everything together on time and to the highest quality. Working with IDL's Glassgates was not one of them, with the speed and ease of the installation and integration in to the fire alarm system." said Houssam Chehabeddine, Project Engineer Royaa Security Systems LLC.
