The first stage in Idesco’s campaign was its announcement of an innovation designed to free security providers
The software application at the centre of Idesco's "emancipation" is DESCoder 2.0

As a leading provider and pioneer of flexible, configurable, open technology solutions, Idesco recently announced the advent of a number of increasingly innovative - and even revolutionary - new concepts in contactless access control. With access control's landscape changing increasingly rapidly, Idesco's announcement fairly enshrines its commitment to protecting businesses' ability to wisely, cost-effectively and securely navigate these changes in ways that always benefit their bottom line.

The first stage in Idesco's campaign was its announcement of an innovation designed to free security providers and end-users alike, to modify and control their contactless access control readers and cards with degrees of flexibility, convenience and independence unprecedented in an industry too often shackled recently by proprietary, closed technologies. The software application at the centre of Idesco's ‘emancipation' has been its recently, powerfully updated and enhanced DESCoder 2.0.

DESCoder 2.0 is designed to interface with Idesco's latest generation of contactless MIFARE readers (Access 7 C 2.0, Access 8 CD & Access 8 CD 2.0) in a remarkably innovative way. Instead of requiring direct reader connections, DESCoder 2.0 programmes a secure configuration card which you simply expose to your mounted, powered, online reader. This card triggers the reader to catalyse the configuration changes you've chosen for your reader - without the hassle of removing and then reinstalling the reader. It's that simple.

More powerful than its convenience, though, is the depth of reader configurability and even technology migrations which DESCoder 2.0 now puts in your hands. Starting with a MIFARE Classic technology configuration, the application also possesses the ability to migrate your readers, first up to DESFire 3DES technology, all the way up to DESFire 128-bit AES encryption. Yet, this still only scratches the surface of the configurable options DESCoder enables one to alter in both their readers and cards.

For the span of additional features one can alter using DESCoder is startlingly wide, beginning with traditional card formatting, to reader configuration variables such as Wiegand timings, parity settings, MIFARE Classic polling, crypto modes, tamper messages, pin code lengths, data offsets and lengths, baud rates, LED and buzzer settings, etc. - the list is long, as well it must be to securely administer DESFire cards that can also host NFC-compliant multi-applications.

Undoubtedly, DESCoder 2.0 will also prove a welcome tool to system integrators and installers wishing to secure future service business among clients with no interest in maintaining their Idesco reader-based access control systems. DESCoder 2.0 makes that goal simple and easy to achieve, vis-a-vis MIFARE Classic technology sector coding and with file locations, data offsets and data lengths in the DESFire technologies.

Perhaps most importantly, DESCoder 2.0 constitutes a major leap forward for open technology access control solutions. By continuing to employ the MIFARE standard, DESCoder 2.0 enables users to sidestep the annoyance of closed, proprietary technologies that frustratingly confine system integrators and end-users to single manufacturers - manufacturers more invested in maintaining control over their customer-base than serving them.

Let there be no doubt, DESCoder 2.0 is next-generation access control technology from a global pioneering leader in contactless access control deeply dedicated to its customers' best interests.
