The new system to be deisgned, installed and maintained by G4S will be operated from December 2012

G4S Technology, a leading provider of building security systems, has been awarded a contract to provide a new smartcard system for thousands of students and staff at Newcastle University.

Currently there are around 37,000 access control smartcards being used every day by Newcastle’s staff and students, for everything from access to buildings, car parks, bedrooms and lifts, to personal identification, attendance recording, borrowing library books, photocopying and use of the sports centre. The new system to be designed, installed and maintained by G4S will be operation from December 2012.
