New Entity to Deliver the Industry's Broadest Range of Products and Services Specifically Designed for Security OEM, Distribution, and Installation Channels Worldwide

ASSA ABLOY's Global Technology Division (GTD) today announced the formation of HID Global, a new business entity focused on providing products and services targeted to the needs of key channels within the access control industry.  The HID Global structure combines the HID and Indala brands of access control readers and cards, Access ID secure card solutions, Synercard digital identity and photo card management software solutions, Interlock custom card manufacturing services based in Switzerland, and BUGA electronic cylinders.  HID Global products will be supported by regional sales, service, and distribution centres in North America, Latin America, EMEA and Asia Pacific regions, including China and India.

In making the announcement, Denis Hébert, president and CEO of the new organization, said: "The formation of HID Global represents an unprecedented response to channel dynamics within our industry.  Combining the various businesses under one industry-leading brand enables HID Global to better position our company to meet the needs of our customers.  The value proposition this represents to our channels and the users of our products are now greatly enhanced through a more complete service and product offering, enabling easier migration solutions to newer, more powerful technologies.  Further enhancements include structuring the organization to better serve those channels and their unique needs in a more focused manner.  We are fortunate and proud that HID is among the most trusted brands in the industry.  This is because our customers and people who use our products have come to depend on us for innovation and quality. HID Global represents a unique opportunity to expand the value we bring to the market by focusing on the needs of the channels that serve users of our products worldwide."

"The announcement of HID Global packages together the resources of several successful solution providers that have served Security By Design's customers well over many years," stated Ed Chandler, CPP, chairman of Security By Design, Inc.  "HID and Indala teams have provided Security By Design and our customers with simple working solutions to complex challenges, and have always made these solutions perform well.  They recognize the need to have customer ownership of keys (or special formats) that can cross the supply chain while still providing an end-user customer with a unique credential.  These types of successes would not be easily accomplished without the breadth of resources that HID Global has to offer."

The combination of the HID and Indala businesses was initiated during the first quarter of this year.  Fully integrated worldwide sales, service, and operations organizations are in place and currently meeting with HID and Indala customers worldwide to introduce HID Global and the benefits it brings to their businesses.  HID Global will be introduced to the security industry at ISC West booth #13051 April 5 - 7 in Las Vegas.
