HID’s multiCLASS family of card readers
HID Global announced the expansion of its multiCLASS™ transition reader product line
HID Global, the trusted source for solutions for the delivery of secure identity, recently announced the expansion of its multiCLASS™ transition reader product line, providing new access control migration options to help organisations transition from low frequency EM4102 proximity to high frequency iCLASS® contactless smart card technology.

HID's multiCLASS family of card readers are designed for customers upgrading their current card system from the most popular proximity technologies to iCLASS credentials. With the multiCLASS RP40, RPK40 and RP15 readers, existing EM4102 proximity customers now have the ability to seamlessly transition to smart cards over time while incorporating the use of multiple card technologies within a single building or across multiple facilities.

"HID's commitment to providing customers with seamless migration options is clearly represented with the launch of the new EM4102 multiCLASS transition readers," said Marc Butler, product manager, HID Global. "This technology is particularly important in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe where EM4102 proximity solutions have a large installed base. Working closely with our customers has resulted in the development of new multiCLASS readers with EM4102 support to help them with small to large-scale migration projects."

In addition to EM4102 proximity migration capability, HID's multiCLASS family of transition readers offer seamless low frequency migration from 125 kHz HID, Indala or AWID Proximity to any of the following smart card technologies:

  • 13.56 MHz iCLASS, DESFire®
  • ISO 15693 CSN (MyD, ICODE, Tag-it)
  • ISO 14443A, CSN (MIFARE®)
  • US Government PIV
When coupled with the company's complete portfolio of multi-technology and combination cards, HID Global's range of multiCLASS readers form part of the broadest product line of technology migrations solutions in the industry. multiCLASS transition readers are fully backed by a lifetime warranty and are available now through HID's network of distributors and system integrators worldwide.
