HID consolidates its eGovernment passport inlay production into one manufacturing campus in Galway
HID Global, the trusted worldwide leader in providing solutions for the delivery of secure identity, today announced that it has initiated consolidation of the company's eGovernment passport inlay production into one manufacturing campus in Galway, Ireland. The consolidation began in July 2009. By the end of 2009, the company anticipates that the significant majority of products related to its e-passport and e-national ID business will be produced at HID Global Ireland Teoranta (formerly Aontec Teoranta).

"eGovernment represents a large and growing segment of our Identification Solutions (IDS) business, especially in the area of inlays for e-passport applications," said Denis Hébert, president and CEO for HID Global. "We currently supply these products to electronic passport projects in more than 20 countries around the world. The decision to consolidate our manufacturing capability in Galway represents our ongoing commitment to this market and is a testament to the excellent track record of our production team in Ireland."

The consolidation is the starting point for additional expansion of the Galway campus. This expansion will include increased production capacity, the ability to support manufacturing of additional eGovernment-related technologies, as well as the addition of associated support functions. The expanded production capability at HID Global Ireland Teoranta will be supported by the company's e-document engineering teams, which will continue to provide new development and support for existing eGovernment customers while meeting the needs and requirements of new clients.

"The decision to consolidate our manufacturing capability in Galway represents our ongoing commitment to this market"

The CEO of Údarás na Gaeltachta, Pádraig Ó hAolain, welcomed the decision by HID Global to consolidate its business and expand its Galway operation. "We are very pleased to be able to facilitate HID Global's expansion plans in Galway. The decision taken by the company shows a great vote of confidence in the Galway operation, the local workforce and in the Connemara region in general as a prime location for such a high-tech industry," added Ó hAolain.
