The overall objective of the merger is to strengthen the value proposition to our customers by optimizing the combined resources and capabilities of HID Global and ITG, specifically in the areas of technology development, innovative identity solutions and enhanced worldwide delivery.

"The merger of ITG and HID makes perfect sense when you consider the synergies between the two groups and the common dynamics of the markets we serve," said Denis Hébert, president and CEO of HID Global, and executive vice president, ASSA ABLOY.  "We are excited about the enormous potential we have to strengthen the value we can provide to our customers' businesses."

A result of external market trends toward converged secure identity solutions, the merger addresses changing customer requirements for integrated solutions from trusted suppliers.  It will also increase HID Global's ability to enhance relationships with channel partners by serving them with products and programs that are designed to meet their specific needs as OEMs, resellers, installers, systems integrators and distributors.

In the short term, HID Global customers will continue to receive the same products and services, as well as have the same sales and support contacts. Moving forward, customers can expect to see an increase in converged and vertical market solutions for secure identity-related applications, benefiting from the combined organization's worldwide delivery capabilities, global channel management and a partnership with a trusted supplier focused on total customer value.  HID Global channels will continue to see the Sokymat and OmniKey product brands through this transition.
