HID Global, a leading manufacturer in the access control industry, is proud to announce that John Laws, its Regional Sales Manager for UK North & Ireland, will be participating in the Marathon des Sables in Morocco in March 2007.

Now in its 22nd year, the event aims to raise money for Facing Africa, an international charity concerned with the prevention and cure of Noma disease, which is a gangrenous infection affecting the face.  Victims of Noma are mainly young children living in extreme poverty with severe levels of malnutrition.

Participants will be required to run 243km/151 miles across some of the world's highest sand dunes in the Sahara Desert with temperatures of up to 140°F/60°C.  Confident that their colleague will successfully complete the marathon, HID will be sponsoring John in this event, highlighting HID's involvement in the global community.

" I am delighted that I have the opportunity to take part in the marathon, helping to make a difference to the children of Africa, also proving to myself that I have the strength and fitness levels to achieve such a life changing mission.''

In 2006, John Laws also completed a life long ambition to reach the peak of Mont Blanc.  Alongside this, John has also successfully achieved other personal challenges involving high levels of dedication and endurance.

With a strong track record in the access control industry, John had 4 years experience at Honeywell before joining HID.  He also has successful tenures at ADT and Secom.  John joined the HID team in 2006 providing localised support for the North of UK and Ireland.
