Promotion signals company's strategic alignment toward growing regional demand

HID Global, a leading manufacturer in the access control industry, today announced that William Burns has been promoted to managing director of HID - Asia Pacific, reporting to Steve Wagner, chief operating officer.  In his new role, Burns succeeds Lester Doig, who served as managing director since 2001.  Burns will be responsible for setting the business objectives, strategy development and tactical action plans for HID Global in the region.

Returning to the region with nearly 10 years of experience with HID Global, in a variety of operational roles, Burns will be dedicated to maintaining high customer satisfaction while expanding the company's client base throughout the region and exploring opportunities for future growth in Asia Pacific.  Immediately prior to this promotion, Burns was the vice president of Strategic Market Development for HID Global, serving as a trusted advisor to the end-user community, working with end-users to understand their needs and to design and develop programs promoting and enabling access control applications using smart card technologies

HID has always viewed the Asia Pacific region as a critical area for future growth.  A truly global company, it has over 60 staff in 14 offices in eight Asia Pacific countries (Australia, China, India, Japan, Korea, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand).  The company's regional product offering has also garnered significant local recognition and awards from Frost & Sullivan, SecuTech, A&S and other Asia Pacific access control industry luminaries.

With significant prior experience working with customers in Asia as vice president of sales from 1997 to 2005, Bil Burns is excited about his return to this rapidly expanding region:

"I'm looking forward to reestablishing relationships with old customers and to successfully promoting new opportunities for the HID Global brand.  We now have the right personnel, a strong operational and distribution infrastructure, and above all, a quality customer base that represents exciting opportunities for future growth in the region."

"We have always been a customer-focused organization in Asia," said Steve Wagner.  "Under Bil's guidance, our focus will be on expanding our client base throughout the region while maintaining the high customer satisfaction we are known for."

Burns has 17 years of security industry experience in sales, business development and management in the electronic security industry.
